If you loose spark on the leading plugs, or if your timing is severely retarded, it will cause the engine to get really hot even though the coolant temp stays good.

When I lost my leading ignition on my way to work, when I got there the engine was smoking as it burned off all the old oil, wd40, and crud on the exterior of the engine. It got really hot. Sometimes, the exhaust will even glow cherry red when this happens. Good luck...

yea i didnt check my timing or spark in the leadings could my thermostat be stuck

Is the upper radiator hose getting hot? Or, you could start it cold with the cap off, then watch as it warms up. You should be able to see the flow in the radiator once the thermostat opens up.

+1 on checking the timing

get a temp lazer. aim at the motor after it reaches operating temp. temp should be between 160-210 degrees ferinheight.
