Ordered plugs and wires.

I ordered NGK BR8EQ14 plugs and Borg Warner wires from O'reilly Auto Parts today.

I read somewhere that thoses are a good all around plug but want some additional input for my car's set-up.

Currently all emissions have been removed and for exhaust, RB cat delete pipe running to a RB muffler. Everything else is stock. I do plan on running the 2gen coil w/TT later, should I run the 2g leading plugs now, or will I be better off with the stock ones until I upgrade to the 2g coil?

Also, anyone else run those wires and any input on them?

Thanks

Racing Beat 's site has a good discussion on plug use....

According to RB the plugs I ordered are correct for stock applications, which is basically what I have. What about those plug wires? Are they any good? They would have to be better than what's on there now, I don't think I have seen wires as small as mine except for on my old 93 Tercel. They are so small that the coil wires have to be zip tied into the wire holder to stay in there, lol!

OP: Wires are all the same IME.
In fact I will only run the stock NGK wires.

I was going to go with the NGK wires but they were 60.00 compared to 18.00 for the born warner wires. I know a lot of the time you get what you pay for, but I didn't see the need to spend an extra 42.00 on it since it is mostly stock. Thanks!

NGK wires are the preferred choice. i can order them in for about $23 per set. the BR8EQ-14's are excellent for most applications up to mild performance. the more porting and the higher the power and rpm's the smaller the gap needs to be and the 14's aren't ideal for gapping and the heat range would not suffice. i've run the FC ignition on an FB using the 14's with no issues what so ever. its not required that you use the FC NGK plugs.

I can't get FC plugs too last on my Monster Port. That's why i run stock Denso's.

Mazdaverx713b, where are you getting the NGK wires for 23.00 a set? I will get those instead.

mazdaverx713b 03-09-11 03:41 AM

i get them at my local napa. they order them directly from NGK. takes a little over a week to get but well worth the wait!

Chevsica 03-09-11 11:23 AM

Thank you! The borg warners came in today so I think I will run those for now. I'm still going to order the NGK wires from NAPA and then I will have them when it is time to change the wires again.

Called my local NAPA and they are telling me they're unable to order them right now, no availability. Might be able to at a later time but no way to tell exactly when. Their supplier and warehouses do not have any in stock. But they are 23 and some change for a set. Are the wires you get blue?

mazdaverx713b 03-09-11 03:24 PM

yes the NGK wires are blue. my local Napa ordered them straight from NGK as they had no sets left in their warehouses.
