Now that car is worth the $8500 he wants. I see cars with half of what that has and they want more.

Rotary Weasel 07-16-06 12:31 PM

maybe I could sell my soul for that........... :crzyeye:

twinkletoes 07-16-06 04:22 PM

I wish i had that!!!

blwfly 07-16-06 04:56 PM

that guy must have poured alot money into that

steve84GS TII 07-16-06 06:44 PM

My thoughts as well......

Not that I dont believe the ad,but why would someone store and maintain a car for 13 years and not drive it?And then throw probably 15-20K into restoring it,only to sell it all for $8500?!
If the whole point of storing it all those years was for appreciation, then any possible profit went out the door after he spent the money restoring the car.

It is beautiful, job well done to the seller.....but still, something seems wrong with the whole scenario....

blwfly 07-16-06 06:50 PM

ild still snatch it
must have a realbad finace situation

If that was my car I would never sell it. Makes my wonder why it is being sold. Something smells fishy. And he wants to buy a better one?

My SE is all original with 67 k. I have a few little dents. Other than that mine is in the same condition. Oh and he has leather and AC.

Anyway if it's true, it's dam nice.

Just my 2 cents.

RRTEC 07-17-06 11:48 AM

Why would you have to do a bolt off restoration on a car with 29K? I mean, I understand dryrot and whatnot... But does anyone else smell ODOMETER rollback.... especially due to the fact that these are Exempt??

There are some rare gems out there but I agree something is odd..

Rx Seven 07-18-06 12:04 AM

Intersting

But either way its still a clean car. What do you mean by exept (Smog?) In CA its pre '76, i think

RRTEC 07-18-06 05:55 AM

Cars as old as ours do not have to report mileage.. "odometer exempt".. It is unrelated to smog.

Mills 07-18-06 07:40 AM

I wonder why it wasn't repainted the factory color, not that sikkens black sucks or anything...

capt murph 07-18-06 08:46 AM

I agree with the suspicions of others. Why all that work on a stored auto with 29k miles???
Something is fishy.

RRTEC 07-18-06 09:16 AM

Regardless the car is BEAUTIFUL!! The udercarrige made me squirt a little...

Directfreak 07-18-06 11:36 AM

Worth Every Penny.

AdamAnt 07-18-06 12:48 PM

My car has 67,000km's (thats 41,000 miles) and is in no need of a full restoration like he did. My underside is almost as clean.

But the seats do look clean? I wonder if they have been re-covered. If the car had more miles the driver seat would have worn out. I say check it out and look closely at the drivers seat, that will tell all. Unless he found a mint stock seat to replace a worn one.

everytime it's smoged the odometer is registered.

the owner of this car has a FD with only 200 something miles on it. That's right. Two hundred. Not two thousand, not twenty thousand.

I haven't seen the first gen in person (its stored in the back, his primary FD in the garage, and his previously mentioned FD in his living room) but I believe all his claims.
