Old People in Buicks Suck!

Hey,

Hey,

So I'm driving to work, same way I go every day, I'm going to turn Left onto this street, and an old man in a White Buick decides to pull Forward and T-Bone My 85 Rx-7... I was just about to start Crying, especialy when I got out to look at the damage. He crushed my Driver's Side Front Panel near the hood, the door, and he bent the Frame! right where the Door Hinge is.

Do I have bad luck or what, I'm going to miss my baby, she drove so nicely... I don't know if I can fix this though...

It's Drivable, but there's a 2 Inch Gab near the back where the door should meet the body.

His Bumper is cracked, but my car's in no good shape!

Bolox 09-15-04 08:20 AM

that sucks big time..

was it his fault or yours?

and does he have insurence...

Gregs 09-15-04 08:29 AM

yeah ask a former member of this forum named DEFPRUN about buicks,

Nivvinabon 09-15-04 08:42 AM

It was his fault, the Police Woman said that he would be sited, and he does have insurance... But I don't know if the Body's worth the money to fix... I might be parting or selling this car soon... As much as I don't want to...

Rx7carl 09-15-04 08:44 AM

:( Sorry to hear that. One less 1st gen <sigh>. Glad your ok though.

82streetracer 09-15-04 09:37 AM

if its a GSL im looking for a rear axle...

oh, and my condolences on your loss.

Nivvinabon 09-15-04 09:40 AM

Ah yer all scavangers...

Wait I would've said the same thing... I dunno, might still try to fix it myself...

But I do have the LSD Rear Axle Unit for an RX-7, but I don't know what type of car it's from...

riofrio 09-15-04 09:47 AM

If it's a GSL SE lemme know how much you want for the ECU.

That sucks, though... hope you can fix it.

Frames can be straightened back out. You have no idea how many times the frame of my first car had to be straightened.. I mean if it has sentimental value to you. His insurance is paying for it anyway right. Body panels are replaceable. Losing another surviving rx7 to the junkyard isn't.

jays83gsl 09-15-04 12:59 PM

The junkyard OR us wolves on the forum ;)

iyaseven 09-15-04 01:29 PM

tough loss man. i had a similar deal but the insurance paid me well and allowed me to buy back the car i bought another RX and there both on the road. i'd give back the money+ if it never happeded though.

thricerx7 09-15-04 03:00 PM

damn old people!!!!

jays83gsl 09-15-04 03:05 PM

I actually had the same situation recently, but quite reversed.

A white SA slammed into my 64 GTO, totalling both cars.

The goat would've been fine, I'm sure, if I weren't going so fast myself ;)

Government-Man 09-15-04 03:39 PM

Fix It! Its a new adventure.

Nivvinabon 09-15-04 03:56 PM

Yargh... It all depends really.. The Frame looks really bumbed out.

We'll see, I still have to wait for the Insurance Companies to figure out what they're going to do, and whether his is going to fight the Citation or not.

The engine does have a dowel pin leak... So I dunno.. It's all up in the air right now.

I'll sleep on it, and we'll see what comes of it... Now if I could only get his Insurance Information... Then I could at least get this started!

jays83gsl 09-15-04 04:15 PM

Get the damage appraised high, and get a proffessional SP/rebuild ;)

tjgosurf 09-18-04 08:27 AM

Buick roadmaster?

Bob Holton 09-18-04 09:07 AM

Watch your mouth about old people. We dont all drive Buicks. I drive an 85 RX7 GS and I am 73, maybe if you live this long , you will change your attitude.

ChasRX 09-18-04 09:32 AM

WARNING: Stay clear of ALL Buicks! It has always seemed to me that a person that owns and drives a Buick seems to drive however they damn well want to; regardless of anyone else on the road!
My co-worker purchased a buick LaSabre, and he explained to me that there is a type of owner network-known fact that if you drive a Buick, that you are also expected to drive like a you own the road; including stopping in the middle of the road, pulling out in-front of other drivers, and cruising below the speed limit in the left hand passing lane!
My inlaws also drive a LaSabre and it can be downright scarey to ride with them! I usually volunteer to be the designated driver, driving their car, to avoid increased odds of danger!

If you see a Buick on the road ahead of you, make it a rule to avoid it, and anticipate erratic driving habits from the driver of the Buick! Just accept the fact.

wthdidusay82 09-18-04 09:43 AM

screw the buicks

I say you just learn a lesson from it and whenever you see someone trying to drive like they own the road, just fly right by them , no need to be stuck behind the wheel of someone who isnt capable of making the evasive maneuvers to avoid an accident. I'd just pop the clutch and hit the e-brake if there were enough time. People these days all act like they own the road, it isnt just the people in the buicks.

ChasRX 09-18-04 09:48 AM

I know it isn't just Buick drivers, but it is my own personal rule-of-thumb; however silly it seems to be. Heck, we have FORKTRUCKS driving around the roads, here, in tobacco country; as they are considered "farm" equipment!

Nivvinabon 09-18-04 10:21 AM

Hey, I didn't say anything about old people, old people are fine... But old people in Buicks are not!

JKM 09-18-04 01:47 PM

Eh, I think I would let the car go... maybe if the insurance check is high enough, buy another car, find out where your old one went, and buy the good stuff from your old car and put it in the new one.

If it weren't for the frame damage I'd say fix it.

BIG J MIXALOT 09-18-04 02:01 PM

dang those buicks
