oil pressure woahs...

ok, i've been trying to get this autometer electric oil pressure gauge to work but i cant. the sending unit they give you doesnt fit. the thread is right, but it's not extended enough. it hits the oil filter pedistal. ahhhh! i know some of you are using this, how did you get it to work and why wont it work on the stock sending unit?

p.s. remember it's ELECTRIC. hahaha, no ferrules or tubing.

It won't work with the stock sending unit because the stock unit has a different output voltage to the gauge. Let's see a pic of the 2 sending units. I'm suprised the threads worked out...metric vs npt?

I'd try to use the sending unit that came with the gauge. Most likely it's a 1/8" NPT.

Get yourself a 1/8-28 BSP (metric for British Standard Pipe) to 1/8" NPT adapter. I know it looks like standard 1/8" NPT will work but trust me the threads are different. That's what my 84 and 88 engines used for the oil pressure sender connection.

Good luck,

Scott

so which is going in to the block?

Jeff20B 05-02-04 04:20 PM

The 1/8 28 BSP goes into the rear plate. The NPT 1/8 goes into the adaptor. I've got one that came with an aftermarket mechanical guage. :)

ok yea, i tried fitting a 1/8 npt in the block and it is just slightly too big. i'll get an adaptor tomorrow. thanks!
