oil pressure woahs...
ok, i've been trying to get this autometer electric oil pressure gauge to work but i cant. the sending unit they give you doesnt fit. the thread is right, but it's not extended enough. it hits the oil filter pedistal. ahhhh! i know some of you are using this, how did you get it to work and why wont it work on the stock sending unit?
-zacarock p.s. remember it's ELECTRIC. hahaha, no ferrules or tubing. |
It won't work with the stock sending unit because the stock unit has a different output voltage to the gauge. Let's see a pic of the 2 sending units. I'm suprised the threads worked out...metric vs npt?

I'd try to use the sending unit that came with the gauge. Most likely it's a 1/8" NPT.
Get yourself a 1/8-28 BSP (metric for British Standard Pipe) to 1/8" NPT adapter. I know it looks like standard 1/8" NPT will work but trust me the threads are different. That's what my 84 and 88 engines used for the oil pressure sender connection. Good luck, Scott |
so which is going in to the block?
|
The 1/8 28 BSP goes into the rear plate. The NPT 1/8 goes into the adaptor. I've got one that came with an aftermarket mechanical guage. :)

ok yea, i tried fitting a 1/8 npt in the block and it is just slightly too big. i'll get an adaptor tomorrow. thanks!
