oil pressure sending unit?
i had just sprayed down my engine at the car wash trying to locate what may be an oil leak, and about 15 minutes later i turned from a stop sign and took 1st gear up to 7 then as i was shifting, i saw my oil pressure gauge peg all the way up so i turned it off and coasted. i didnt see anything too out of place in the engine bay, not that i could, but i fiddled with the connection on the sending unit. then i started it up again, and no problem so i began heading home, and it started to climb again, but i would let off the throttle, and it would stop climbing.
so anyway, what would cause it to spike? is it just the gauge or do i have something i need to worry about? or is it impossible to tell. it doesnt drive funny, and i figured if i actually had that much oil pressure, some would escape past the oil control rings, and i would see it burning. but i couldnt. thanks
