Oil filters
I'm trying to see what filters most are running on their FBs with beehive cooler. I've been using bosch, but I get very different oil pressures with each change, perhaps some bad antidrain backs? I've read bad things about fram, but may chase down Mazda filters if they are available.
I use the same oil each time, but this change, it only fluctuates from 40 to 60ish from idle time 5-6k rpm, just yesterday before the change, it fluctuated between 20 to about 70-75. All guesses given the gauge doesn't have all the numbers. Stays consistent throughout the change cycle. Thanks |
OE filters cheap for what they protect. Same PN for rotaries 1970 the 1994 and maybe even RX8s. This is what I always have used.
$7 well spent. Stu Aull 80GS AZ |
Thanks Stu, I'll try and find a Mazda compatible filter next change. I use only Honda on my Honda's and Motorcraft on my truck, hopefully there's something Mazda makes today will fit.

B6Y2-14-302-P1 is a USA sourced part. Wix is a good alternative as well |
Perfect, thanks, I ordered 8 of them, that will last 4 years.
What, there's other makers of trucks? 😝 |
I use the Mobil 1 or the K&N filters. They are rated really well. Wix is ok and stay away from FRAM or anything they make as private labels for others,

I also normally use Mazda filters.I did order a Wix brand filter for my newest 10AE,but I won't have the oil in there too terribly long before I perform its second oil changed under my ownership.
