Oil filler tube vent with Mikuni and no air box
 

I have searched and i am kind of trying to brainstorm on how to properly vent the oil filler tube.

I have the mikuni 44 sidedraft setup installed, but no air box (thats how the other guys did it).

Can i use a t fitting and hook into the brake booster vacuum that is on my intake manifold? Wouldnt that suck just the same, lol?

Did that, everyone who is running a mikuni it seems is venting through there air filter, i do not have an air filter, i am using velocity stacks

you better use a filter set up of some kind. just can just drill a whole in the oil cap and put a curved fitting into it and call it a day.

That'll be enough? I heard one time that you need some sort of vacuum pressure to effectively pull the moisture out.

Don't do that, it'll be a direct vacuum leak. Your car will run poorly and your brakes won't have power assist anymore.

Well there is more than way to vent your oil system so i said search so you could decide which suited your needs the best. Plus i always find that by searching (though can be a headache at time of dispair) you learn alot more than just what your trying to figure out. Good luck and let us see some of you pics.

The reason I stated to do a FAQ is that everyones setup is different.
Some use a PVC Valve with a Oil Water Seperator or going directly from a Vacumn Source or going directly from the Air Filter and list goes on!!!!
Depending on your Booo (Do a Search).

Get a valve cover air filter , the little ones, and use a toop to connect it

There are a couple options availible to provide vacuum to the crankcase. Most of the intakes, particularly the 1 piece wraparouds have a 1/8" barb that can be used as show in the 1st pic, Barb is removed but the the one for the brake booster line can be seen and works under the same principle. If one chooses to use the intake ad it doesn't have a barb, it can be tapped for an NPT brass fitting. It's my personal preference not to tee into the brake booster line simply to keep any oil contamination out of the booster and it's supply lie.

Other option is to install an air filter with an 1/8" 90* barb in the base of the filter assembly as shown in the 3rd pic. Filters and assemblys can be bought from Pierce Manifolds. The one shown is 6-3/4L X 4-1/2W X 4.25" T. 1st pic shows where the the vacuum tube can be hooked up, 2nd pic shows standard filter assembly, 3rd pic shows shows the plastic fitting that can be tapped and installed into the filter base, That pic is the the base of one of my my DCD carbs , but the idea is the same. If the the barb on the intake is used, the system must be sealed from leaks, meaning the other barb by the oil filler tube is either capped or the charcoal canister is conected to the tube and vent line from the tank and the fuel tank cap is oem cap and doesn't leak.

As a side note, the velocity stacks are used inside the filter assembly for better performance.

What line are you talking about?
If you have the Top Line Plugged not a good idea!
Will lead to Moisture and Rust in the Oil Filler Tube.
You need a Vacumn Source to pull that shit out.
Do a Search in FAQ for Lung Mustard.

No rats nest, and I dont really have anywhere to plug that line into so I just threw a screw in the end of it. :confused:

Here is how mine is set up, no lung musterd for for me. (after I put the check valve in correctly :uhh: )

Did you just drill a hole in that bad boy and throw a hose connection on there? That looks doable for cheap.
