Off throttle stumble

A new issue, may be related to the cold weather?

when driving and I let off the throttle, the engine stumbles down to about 4-500 RPM, but after a few seconds recovers. This is with clutch pushed in, so no drag from the trans. It hasn’t stalled, but feels like it wants to. Not driving and rev it up and let off, no stumble.

it’s all stock, rats nest, emission stuff etc, 12a. float bowls look great.

I won’t be able to test with warmer weather anytime soon, so I wanted to see if there’s something I should be looking at.

thanks

My car did this when the idle mix was set too lean. Try adjusting the mix screw?

Maybe dash pot needs adjustment? It's supposed to let the throttle close gradually.

Carbies get stiff with cold weather so things like the controlled throttle closer don't work quite right. I wouldn't sweat it. If you get it really really warmed up does it still do it? Extra cold air can also lean out the mixture because it's so dense, messes with the AFR a bit.

Thanks everyone, I'll see if it warms up next week and take it out for a spin. It's only been in the 30's for the high for a week or so. I'm old and don't like cold weather either 😝

And you got snow up there too!

About 3 inches, definitely not taking the 7 out till all the salt is washed off the roads.

Finally took out my 7 today, it's 57 degrees! No more stumble, I went out and beat on it for a couple hours and it runs flawlessly again.

I guess just like me, being old and not liking the cold weather!
