Not your typical strut/suspension question

Well today got to the front struts on my SA. Got Progress springs and Tokico Illuminas. I read about the spacer in the housing and got the strut in and secure with the homemade spacer. Now the problem is when I modified the strut mounts they have to go pretty far down to accommodate the drop on the springs. In my mind another spacer will have to be used for the to of the shaft so I can thread the top nut down. Is there a benefit to running FB strut mounts? I've read the have actual bearings vs. nothing on the SA. Does this mean they're thicker and will help the mount sit right? Any thoughts or actual pics of FB mounts would be appreciated.

I'm not really clear on how you modified the strut mount.
The spacer inside the strut housing is just because the body of the FB insert is shorter than the SA insert. The top of the shaft mounts the the upper mount normally, no accomodations necessary.

The shaft of the Tokico is different than the stock strut. So you have to modify the mount to accommodate that. With the Progress springs being lower it throws everything off when putting it back together.

Pictures please. :)
The shock towers from the fb are just slightly shorter than the sa. That should be the only difference, it's only by an inch or so.
If I'm reading correctly, the new springs you bought aren't touching the strut hat? The thing that is used to bolt onto the chassis.
I didn't even know progress made springs for the first gens. or did you use some from another car?

These Progress springs were bought years ago when they still made them for the 7.

I'm talking about the difference in the mount needed because of the difference in the insert's shaft. Looking at the thread above it looks like I definitely need the FB mounts.
