Not sure what my Holley is...?

Refer to pics:

Number on choke: 1848AARB 2717
On body next to the entrance: 6R 3559 B

I find mixed info and nothing to clear on the CFM or anything like that. Has an electric choke that ill be removing to convert to manual. And most likely machining off the choke tower. But before I go through all this effort, I need to know if it's worth it. The carb came from a running 13B so it should work. But I need to know how it will work for me.

Im no expert but im pretty sure the 1848 is a 465cfm. Back in the day Racing beat used the 465cfm for 12a's and 1850 rated at 550cfm on 13b's...

that's what shows up when i search so far. And there is a RB stamped at the end making me think its from an actual RB Kit. Since that dosnt show up when searching for Holley carbs. But i thought they were all mechanical secondary carbs?

It is a RB carb... no doubt there but it is the older 12a version

in my experience with these, the throttle setup says to me it's a RB holley. and the 465cfm carbs had that vent actuation thing on the primary bowl.

Sweet! Its actually going on my 12a today.

I've only used mechanical or vacuum operated secondaries. How does one set up the electric secondary this one has?

Your RB carb has an electric choke and vacuum operated secondaries. At least that is what I'm seeing in the pics you posted.

yeah, whats up with that thing? if the throttle sits on the lever ever so slightly, the port leaks fuel.

what is the purpose of it? Ive never seen it on any other holley before?

That is the mechanical bowl vent,not unique to RB Holley. Several 4150/4160 emissions(oe) replacement carbs from Holley had same bowl vent mechanism.

If there is fuel seeping/leaking from that opening-at any time- its indicative of flooding as that opening is at top of fuel bowl and if fuel is coming out there the bowl is full to the top. Normally the bowl is about 1/2 full.
Right next to bowl vent mechanism is the float adjuster for primary float bowl. Most,not all Holley carbs have a sight plug in side of bowl that is removed while engine is running to inspect/adjust float level. Correct adjustment is where fuel level is right at bottom of sight plug opening.
Those without a sight plug have a float drop/height spec that float is adjusted to.

Might want to open that carb up for a look see if not brand new. If sitting for any amount of time with ethanol gas in it,it may have some problems with what was left behind when gas evaporated. May have a misadjusted or sunk float from a pinhole,needle seat stuck in open position,stuck float arm,shrunken metering block/plate gaskets...
