It's either a 12A or 13B... no such thing as a 12B. Sure, if you've done the basics like headers, exhaust and intake mods than there's no reason why you couldn't use a wet 50 shot to increase performance.

Sorry to thread jack, but, the subject came up. What does the letter (A, B) mean? I'm pretty sure (but could be wrong) that the number refers to liters, as in, 12 A, 1.2 liters, 13 B, 1.3 liters.
Please, flame, and attack me if I'm horribly wrong

anthrax 08-04-04 07:48 AM

Ya the numbers relate to the displacment in Liters of the engin., but I don't know what the A/B designation is.

As for the Nitrous question...

go buy a Civic YO!

whould this nos setup work on a 1981 rx-7 this is the kit

The plate won't work, you don't have an open plenum square bore design. Dump that part, run separate injectors and smaller pills to get a 50 shot and it'll work. Since the gaskets and base don't have dual holes, I'm willing to bet it's for a Holley carb. If you got one, then that's the set-up you want.

You guys dont know about the 12B?!?!?

Its got 1 rotor 3 pistons and a gram of coke.....

Mad PowA Yo!

tasty danish 05-13-05 12:56 AM

yeah, i have one, it's in my 86 calais.
it doesn't use oil, but rather an 8-ball of blow every 2000 miles.

as far as nitrous, i don't see why not, the internals are certainly strong enough, just for the love of God and all that is holy don't run it lean.

IanS 05-13-05 07:47 AM

The A and the B i believe signify if's it's carb of fuel injected. although i maybe wrong.

Feds 05-13-05 11:56 AM

Here's a little history:

the numbers signify displacement (unless you're an idiot, then you believe displacement should be somewhere between 2 and 6× the actual displacement)

A and B signify the series of the engine. Mazda started with the 10A, a-way back when. they also made a 13A which had different eccentric and rotor dimensions than the series we have now. It was in a Japan only FWD car.

So, when they "bored" the 10a out to 1.2 litres, it was a 12a. When they went 12a to 1.3 litres, they couldn't call it a 13A because they already had one of those. After many long hours of meetings, they decided to go with 13b.
