i'm with zac (FBII) right now and we're in the middle of the non-pop up headlight creation. we're finishing the mold for the prototype unit. it will be fiberglass and we hope to have a pic up possibly tonight, but maybe not as there will be many beers throughout the day! hahahaha. just keeping you all informed. have a nice day!

Here's a close up. Keep in mind the bucket was thrown together in 20 min. It's spray painted poster board to see how everything looks when it's covered up. But you get the idea. I was thinking of attaching a turn signal or reflector on the buldge in the light. If it was a turn signal, you could run a vent under the light from the factory unit for a CAI or just engine cooling. Just some thoughts.

Interesting. It fits right there completely flush with the hood and original pop up cover?

you've tested the light pattern by chance? If so can we see pictures of the pattern?

looking good! :D

hmmm.... looks good. but seeing how far the light sits back, how much of the road in forn of you will you see? it looks like you would not see the first 10 feet of the road and then the light would hit.

Manntis 05-10-03 12:34 PM

one thing in his defence; with the long, sloped nose of our cars it's impossible to see the first few feet in front of the bumper anyhow, lit or not.

One of the goals from the start was to place the light as far up as possible to try to remove the dead spot in front of the car. If there is a blind spot, simple driving fog lights should remove it. I am hoping that there won't be one though. Like I said, I still haven't tested the beam pattern. There's no battery in the car because I'm working on a relocation kit that places it where the stock muffler was under the rear floor. Once that's done and I have the electricals working again, I'll give them a test. If they pass, I'll start on the frame jigs and work on a fiberglass bucket design.

Keep in mind it's not about having a shadow in front of the car, it's about having one that the driver can see. That makes a big difference. Hopefully it'll work out.

I am definitely interested. I really like the way non popups can look when done right.

Sorry no pictures yet of my kit, its kinda hard for me to work on it without a car. The mold I made the other day did not work and I will have to remake it. I have come up with a different design that will house to lights on each side with a duct into the motor bay above for those with intakes. Also the lights will be sitting above the original headlight housing to give you a better light pattern and they are pushed as far front as they will be able to go. I guarentee that these lights will be the best light source for the FB. The Hella units are great pieces and even better with HID, which I will be offering with these
