No Headlights...?? On a 1980 SA

I checked all the fuses and the three fusible links on the strut tower...??

Still no lights... The interior switch / arm sends the headlights into pop up mode but the lights are not on...???

Any ideas...??

I know the odds of both going out at once are not likely, but have you tried replacing a headlight itself or checking for power at the plug when up?

Fusible link is probably blown and you just cant tell. Did you hit the link with an ohm meter?

One of those links is just for the headlights, so its the first single point of failure. Otherwise you
may be looking at something in the cluster behind the steering wheel.

My car was doing the same thing. It was the combination switch. The cluster behind the steering wheel. Removed it, took it apart. Cleaned it. Put it back. Works great. There was alot of corrosion. Check the thread titled "combination switch", for a nice how to with pics for removal. It has just been over this last weekend. I would post the link, but my phone blows. Thanks to Tim wilbers for the help. Good luck

So I took the combination switch apart, and a HEADS UP to anyone else doing so...

BE CAREFUL for the small ball that the switch rides on. It'll pop out and going flying. I honestly CAN'T believe I found it.

Anyways, everything was clean inside. I cleaned it again with some light sandpaper, put it back together and it still doesn't work. I looked at the wiring diagrams and power doesn't come out of the switch side going to the high beam switch. Jumped power straight past the arm / headlight switch to the high beam switch and the lights then come on.

So somewhere inside the switch is no good.

So do I have to buy the entire combination switch or can I buy just the headlight switch...?
