rebuild kits are $30.... but http://www.wankel.net/~krwright/cars/rx7/manuals.html and click on the carb manual and it says iirc

Zake17 11-08-07 03:23 PM

ive allready gone though one and its not any better then it was...

Kentetsu 11-08-07 03:37 PM

If you didn't make any mistakes during the rebuild, then it shouldn't be leaking. Can you tell specifically where it is leaking from? Even if you find another carb from a junkyard, chances are you'll have to rebuild it before it will be useable, or at least dependable...

Where in Michigan are you?

Zake17 11-08-07 03:39 PM

Holland and its just leaking out towards the top not quite sure where...

markusj08 11-08-07 05:04 PM

weber all the way

Zake17 11-08-07 05:15 PM

what websites would work to look them up then?

Zake17 11-08-07 09:31 PM

someone plz?

trochoid 11-09-07 10:55 AM

Be more specific about the leaking out of the top. Do you have the solenoid plugged in on the driver's side?

Kentetsu 11-09-07 11:25 AM

Well, I live in Grand Rapids and Man in Black lives in Holland, so you have help in the area. Is the car driveable right now, or is the leak too bad?

Also, look up the Michigan RX7 forum. http://mirotaryclub.net/forum/

way to bad...

Where's the fuel level when you look through the sight glass on either side?

You said you rebuilt it, did you touch the float levels at all?

My guess is that either your float levels are messed up, or that there's something sticking between the needle and seat, causing it not to stop the flow of fuel into the bowl.

Also check the little plugs on the side where you access the jets. Those should each have a clean copper seal and be tightened enough to prevent gas leakage.

If it's not that, then carefully check the fuel inlet tube assembly. Look at the diagram closely and make sure that anywhere a washer appears on the diagram, you have one, and anywhere one doesn't appear, you don't have one. Also make sure that nut at the end is tight.

Take the airbox off if it isn't already, have a friend crank the car and look where it's leaking from, that will give us a better idea.

You could always just send it to Sterling, but that'll take a while and cost you a pretty penny. It would be the best damn carb you'll ever have when you're done though.

If you didn't mangle the floats or "adjust" them at all during the rebuild, don't. They are pre-set from the factory and are notoriously hard to get right again if you start messing with them.

Kentetsu 11-09-07 01:00 PM

Sterling is a gentleman who modifies Nikki carbs. He does an incredible job of it too. I know, because I own one. :)

I'll let Carl know about this thread, so he can reply here. Just give him some time to pick up his PMs and I'm sure he'll stop by. :)

Just send Sterling a pm. Here is his profile. Just click on "Send Sterling a private message". I am sure he'll get back to you within a couple days and let you know price, time it will take, etc.

Heres some info on the sterling carb that carl and sterling do.
http://www.pbandjracing.com/carb_faq.html

Last year around this time I sent my carb out to Carl and got it back in time to have some fun in the spring :)

Zake17 11-10-07 11:40 AM

about how much does it come to?

trochoid 11-10-07 04:15 PM

Time to stop from asking us to hold you're hand and contact Sterling, or RX7Carl, who is a mod on this forum, and ask them. Business is business and that's between you and them.

Man_in_black49464 11-19-07 06:58 PM

if you need anymore info or help just ask.
