Nikki Carb: Solenoids don't work. Options?
So I have been having issues with my Nikki filling my secondary barrels with fuel when the engine is running. Last I checked (Didn't have time this weekend) the tops of my floats were level when the top of the carb was removed and turned over. I jumpered the two solenoids (drivers side and passenger side) and neither of them actuated. I have read that the one on the passenger side of the Nikki will cause the secondary barrels to fill with fuel.
What options do I have to remedy this situation? Thanks -Jim |
if you believe the solenoid is at fault replace it. i have plenty of spares if you need one.

Yeah, I've run with everything unplugged other than the float bowl solenoid and had no issues. May be different emissions junk to deal with though depending on the year.
You've probably already checked this: http://www.nellump.net/peri/epi/firs...odedCarbs.html The only other things that come to mind are: Charcoal cannister system can get plugged. There is a small orifice that needs to be cleared to fix it. Haven't dealt with this myself, but I read about it on here years back. Do you have the restrictor in the return line installed? Gas tank ventilation. As temps rise, gas is pushed down the lines. Try leaving gas cap loose to eliminate this one. Too much fuel pressure would cause flooding while it was running, but not after shutdown (unless the high pressure slowly leaked out into the carb after shutdown). Is the pump stock? . |

I do have the restrictor in the return line. No charcoal canister. Stock pump. |
The FBVS is on the Driver's side, right by the alternator...

Yep... You should be able to hear it click or something when you put the juice to it. If not, then assume faulty...

Annoyed with my FB today. I adjusted my float levels, broke off my float bowl vent solenoid (got it out with a hammer and a sharpened punch). Put in my other one that doesn't actuate and the carb. proceeded to piss fuel all down the side of my block. I'm thinking about ordering a SR Modified Nikki and being done with it.

rfthrs, look at the date of what you're replying to. That last post was from 2015. I suggest starting a new thread.
