New RX7 Owner, Need Advice

I am buying a 1980 RX7 for 400 bucks. It's a bit rough cosmetically, but runs good. What should I look for, where are the best parts available, where should I start for small performance upgrades. I have built many cars in my day...but never a rotary. Any Advice will be appreciated. i don't want a 12 second car, I have one of those already....just a quick, nice little car. Thanks Tim

Well... welcome to the rotary world. The best thing I can suggest at this point is to read all the threads in this section of the forum. There's a shitload of info in here. Being a new rotary owner, much of it may not make sense to you, but you'll get an idea of what's available. Once you get your car, you'll have more specific questions to research and seek advice on. If you have a problem, do a search on the forum; chances are, somebody's had that same problem and you'll find a solution already posted. If you can't find it... ask! As hard as it is to believe by the screen names of these guys, they really are extremely knowledgeable.;) Once again, welcome...

Check under the storage bins for wheelwell rust. You will need a philips screwdriver. It is very easy and will save you time and money in the future if there is considerable rust.

For performance parts, check www.racingbeat.com or www.horsepowerinabox.com (talk to Tim) He can get anything 12A you need, its an aussie site, but his service is second to none and I think the parts are better quality than racing beat, also the price is cheaper and with the price being cheaper and the shipping, usually works out cheaper than ordering them from here...

Remember the prices ont heir site are in Aussie dollars not US.. So its about 1/2 what it says...
