Just got my first rx-7. 1985 GSL-SE. The mechanic liked it, even said that it should be going for more (I got it for $1200) , the mechanicals are pretty good, it needs a new oil metering pump, new muffler, and some rear brake pads. The interior is pretty good except for the passenger seat has rips in the leather :( and the window switch/ sound joystick trim piece won't stay in because all of the clips are broken. What a powerful beast it is, plus it handles like no other, I can get away with stuff in this car that would leave other cars skidding sideways.

Pictures, also, never let maaco paint a car, in the past someone decided that they didn't like blue, and painted the car Ivory, maaco did a horrible job

Careful, they do get tail happy quit easily.

Macco's bodywork sucks but they seem to use good paint. Seem to always leave drips though.

TrineonX 11-13-04 05:59 PM

There was no maaco bodywork done, and the paint is fine. The prep is where they save money though, you can see runs, drips, even where the old paint was chipped, and they forgot to paint a few spots.

If that is a original Seafoam green car I would get it painted back to that color. It is a fantastic color for the RX and pretty rare at that. There should be a paint code under the hood.

Nice buy I really miss my GSL-SE.

Nice car. Whats wrong with the OMP? Its probably just leaking. It can be rebuilt.

TrineonX 11-14-04 10:13 AM

I'm not sure whats wrong with it, but the mechanic ( Rotary Specialist in Denver) qouted me at $400 to replace it so I might try my hand at a rebuild first

jays83gsl 11-14-04 11:43 PM

I dunno that much about that kind of stuff, but, $400 for something that's almost useless?!
