New to this Mazda thing...
 

Where is a good resource for parts for a 1983 rx7? I'm getting one, but I need parts such as body pieces. It's a free car and something to tinker with, so I need to weld in floor pans :eek: and would like to find the pre-made aftermarket or OEM pans to make a direct replacement. Thanks in advance for your help!

I don't know if you will be able to get floorpans. But then i just made my own too. Its cheaper.

The only body work you can get is in VB. Other companies sell the same stuff but cheaper. You will NOT find a floor pan for your car anywhere. You need to just have metal cut to size and welded in which is really easy and cheap to buy yourself.

Thanks everyone! Sending the flatbed to get it tomorrow night then starting the work on it. It needs brake lines, and floor work. You say the floor is pretty easy to do?

How hard are brake lines on this? I've done them on other cars before.

Body is in good shape for having sat a while.
They said the gas tank has been bone dry a while, so there is a little trouble starting it, but when they do, it runs. I figure it's just a matter of letting the gas circulate from the tank to the carb. If you have any other ideas, let me know.

This should be a fun little project. :)

By the way, what is the bolt pattern for the wheels on the '83?

change the oil and filter regularly

Change the gas filter fairly regularly too--

And read through the entire FAQ that bizarro mentioned....

noob info:
1. check for oil on the engine block where it says "Mazda 12a"
2. check to make sure your OMP is working (do a search)
3. change oil, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, plugs, plug wires, rad fluid, rear diff fluid if applicable, tranny fluid...
4. brake lines??? get the ss brake lines...you'll like them
5. you may want to clean out your gas tank...

that should be good for a tune up if anyone else can chime in with other simple tune up ideas...?... :)

What size brake line is on the car? I need to buy some and my flatbed doesn't pick up the car until tonight. And couplers for it?

By the way, I'll get pictures of the entire restoration.
