$7-900 for a pair of headlights? No thanks. That's as much as some ppl paid for their car.

They do look cool, and awesome light. This video shows the cheaper one on the road, not just shot onto his garage wall.

Just can't see spending that much when you can upgrade wiring harness and get halogens for $100 total through Black Dragon.
Even the cheaper one at top is over 200. Tempting though after seeing the difference in output.

I was going to get a set of cheepie 6024 projector beams here soon. I'm tired of not being able to see anything at night. Windshield wiper scratches don't help much either.

As far as all research I've read on the forum, the number one issue with aftermarket headlights outside of the ever popular silvanias and hella e-codes is the DEPTH of the aftermarket buckets, first gens seem to have very shallow areas for the buckets and the vast majority of projector housings and kits are deeper than stock, this is why Miata projectors will not fit and Sake Bomb abandoned trying to build kits for first gens because it would require notching the frame to use what they had built.

The truck-lite ones seem to be the only ones that would work, the JWs look far too deep.

Holy Shit! I never even looked at the price! I though it would be 200-250 tops, LOL!

A while back I had upgraded my harness as well, and went with
IPF's.

The right color temperature too,
as I wanted 4000k lights, to be like my Lexus's HID's.

I also ordered a headlight wiring upgrade from Summit Racing.

I really like the HID like "cut-off" too.

Those are extremely awesome looking lights.

But I'm particularly interested in the install you show above DF, im going to have to look into an idea like that...

hmm interesting, our 2007 25 hour setup, used HID's but everyone has switched to LEDs now. since those housings are so $$$$ maybe it makes sense to roll your own?

i was gonna post a pic of the lights, but this is more fun

notice the hole in the windshield thats covered with tape? car set its fastest lap time like that too. all the tape and cardboard is actually literally holding it together.

I'm a fan of LED lighting in general - - slowly swapping things over at home, and the savings in both power use and generated heat is significant - - but they are still quite expensive, and the ones for cars are just crazy stupid expensive so far.

Once all the people willing to pay crazy-stupid-expensive prices have theirs, the price will drop a lot.

Definitely the most-evolved light source out there, though. Highly efficient, compact, great durability.

I have a 5-bulb track light in my home office that's my main light source for the room. When I first bought it, it had 50W halogen mini-spots in it - 250W total draw. Great light, but it would heat the room up in no time flat, and the bulbs get crazy hot. In six months I had to replace 3 bulbs that burned out.

Cost me $120 to retofit it with LED mini-spots. Light color is even better than the halogens, still plenty bright, and the whole fixture now draws a total of 27 watts. Bulbs are cool enough to touch when running. No bulb failures yet nearly three years later, and the room stays cool.

Truck-lite 27004 - FB 1st Gen Headlight Upgrade

1 Attachment(s)
Just purchased NEW IN BOX - TWO (2) 7" ROUND "CHROME DOME" HEADLAMP. THIS LIGHT HOUSING IS MADE OF LEXAN OR PLASTIC MATERIAL - OEM PART# IS TL 27004

Adapter plug easily converts 9007/9007LL connector
Polycarbonate lens provides up to 30 times greater impact resistance than glass

These are made by Truck-lite and go for about 200.00 for a pair - I got them for $ 50.00 & Free shipping - NEW - Hmmm? I couldnt pass up the deal to even try and see how well they work.

These seem to be the closest thing I can find before going HID - I will take pics and makes notes of the install and of course give a review of the bulbs. Whats funny is I can't seem to find on this site anyone else who might have tried these.

Anyone else have experience with these lights? They seem to have been around for a few years.

This is just an H4 upgrade. I have similar on my car and a thread about it. Got it
from BD and there are Hellas I think. Not LED at all.

I agree, that's why I built my own! Still need to work on those LED tail lights, that time'll come though.

I think that it will be nice once many cars keep switching over to LED lighting, like Acura, Lexus, BMW, Mercedes have in that it will help with bulb failure over time and the power draw on the batteries and alternators would also be drastically be reduced.

The main thing I like about the tail light feature is that I read in my research that at 60mph an LED light illuminates fast enough to allow up to 15ft of extra reaction space for the driver behind them when the LED-lit driver's tail lights turn on to warn the follower they should be slowing down.

Oh yeah, we were on headlights...
