new brake pads?
 

so ive came to the conclusion that i need new brake pads. i was thinking about getting some cheap brake pads for now (i know they wont last and not all that great of an idea but its better than what i have right now). I also need the price not to break my bank. i only have about $100.

what are some good brake pads that wont break my bank account?

and is it easy to put on myself? or is it a pain?

Check out Rockauto.com . You can find pads as low as $4.48 a pair (they could be crap...but they're cheap).
Best suggestion is get a manual (either a Hayes or Mazda or just check any post with the user name Sgt Fox, he's got a link to the service manuals), changing out brakes is something anyone can handle.
Finally, browse through the achieve section....I'm pretty sure there are a couple of really good tutorials.

Brakes are really easy to replace, and if I were you, I would go with cheapie brake bads if your car is for daily driving.

Hawk HPs pads. I run the HP+ and they are more track orientated than street. Love them to
death and can pick them up for around $60. This is assuming you only need the fronts.

I use Hawk pads too, and love them. Got mine from www.re-speed.com

However, for simple daily driving you could easily go for the cheap pads. The only advantage you are likely to see from the Hawk pads (since you aren't racing) will be an incredibly long lifespan (think years before having to change the pads again). :)

Don't forget... low dust from Hawks and less rotor wear. Plus they give you a nifty stickers for your tool box!

so im seeing alot on hawk pads. after i use up these new cheap pads that ive got i shall get hawks. thanks guys!

neither could i, not sure they sell "traditional" parts

Mazdatrix and RB sell them for sure, I got mine from RB, but they charge a ton on shipping so you might get them cheaper from Mazdatrix. They pop up on ebay from time to time.


Make sure you get HPS! You don't want the race pads on a street car. Get new rotors while your at it.

hell, check advance auto and save shipping, under $20 for a single set - front or rear.
And they are easy to replace, get used to playing with the calipers, they need regreasing often so you don't drag the pads & wear them out.

Our supplier for these went out of business a few years back. Our new supplier doe not have good pricing on them. Sorry.
