New Bling and Things
 

Hey Guys,

Well today was a super-incredibly awesome day. I got two packages. One contained my Stereo/Gauge faceplate (thanks to akiratdk) and the other was my ported, powdercoated intake manifold of goodness (thanks to Rx7Carl).

Also pictured are recent acquisitions : Jets (thanks to MattG who split them with me to keep costs low), Gauges (thanks to random person on ebay) and front engine pieces (thanks to mazdatrix)

I can hardly wait to get the manifold put on there under my Sterling (thanks again to Sterling and Carl) and get tuning!

Is that manifold design better than making one bigger plenum area that both rotors can share? Just asking cause when i ported mine i opened it up to all four ports thinking it would balance out any differences in flow of air through the carb due to air not coming in over the center of the carb, unless you have a different air cleaner housing. Or did I have the wrong idea?

Weed Wacker, I'm not sure, Carl would be the one to answer that. Since he's got the flowbench, I'll assume this is the best way he could do it.

No thank you for splitting the jets with me. I would have never been able to afford them on my pay. Too bad UPS tried giving you and I the shaft on the shipping! Glad you got that worked out!

Nice gauge and stereo surround!! Didn't somebody sell those things? I remember seeing them somewhere.

That manifold is a lot nicer looking than the silver spray painted one I have. Have fun putting all the goodies in.

Anyone know how this one compares to the RB Holley SP?

Not yet, but I aim to find out. With any luck dyno mid next summer after some tuning. Then of course the engine build and more dyno.

Everything looks really great. I am really looking forward to seeing this car completely done. Definitely one of the best builds I've ever seen, and so much respect for you to not go overboard on power over suspension, or anything for that matter. I think its really amazing the amount of planning and detail you put into this car to make it completely balanced to what you want it for.

If you need any powder coating done, let me know. I can do it for cost. I have my own setup. I'm in Liberty Missouri, just 30 minutes from Olathe.

Normality_Glitch, thanks for the compliment :) I've put a lot of time and effort into restoring this thing and I'm glad to see it finally all coming together. I've been driving it last summer and this summer, but as the finishing touches start making their way onto the car it's a really good feeling.

What am I saying?! Finishing touches.. *laughs* ... I don't think I'll ever really "finish" this project. There will always be something more that I can think of to do.

I'm liking the intake. I have considered doing a few mods to my intake, particularly in the area of the shutter valve. I know that darn thing hinders the flow.

I like the surrond Jon. I may have to get me one of them. Thanks on the compliments guys. :)


Weed Wacker- As Carroll Smith would say, its a matter of "horses for courses". Having a single plane manifold would be better for top end power but would hurt low and midrange power, most notably the torque. So if your building a track only car then the single plane would be an advantage to a dual plane or seperated runner manifold. But for the street, even for autox and "spirited" driving, this is a better setup. The principles are the same as those on pisston engines. If your interested in the reasons/technical stuff, just do a search. Theres plenty of info on the net pertaining to the subject.

What will it take to get mine ported?

It takes the same anything else takes. Time and money. :D

Be prepared to be leniant on the time, and reasonable with the money, and it will be worth every penny and every day of wait.

RX7Carl- thanks 'cause i thought about doing one for my street car the way you did for that exact reason, but then i remembered that once my integra is running and i'm enjoying 24+ MPG i will be driving my RX7 like even bigger ass and on the track (circuit of course) a lot more so i figured why do it twice when i can't afford to anyways?

great work on the manifold. i ported one very close to that - just haven't tested it yet. makes me feel good though. oh, and that explanation on the single-plane vs. split-plane designs was awesome. thanks.
