needing some ideas on what to do ..

I am fixing to pull the motor out of my 84 -7.. I finally found a place that had the Haynes manual it's definatley alot more detailed then the chiltons.. Anyway I was wondering if everyone could give me some ideas on what they did with their cars to start off with I'm going to rebuild the engine myself but I'm wondering what type of carburetor everyone suggests.. Also i'm starting to potty train my daughter ummm anyone could give me any advice on that I would greatly appreciate it .. lol .. :) ... just thought I'd throw that in there .. thanks everyone ..

well i haven't pulled my enigine before....not sure on what your asking. What are you looking to build? what type of engine you got? i'm to scared to rebuild the engine myself...rotaries are scary things but if you can harness them their one of a kind! But back to your question it all depends on what engine you have and what kinda car your wanting to setup....everyday driver, drag, SCAA

Rotory engins are not scarry the are beautiful in the simplicity of their design.

But as to answer your first question ...

I agree with rotofire, what do you want your car to do?

You need to answer that befor we can help you out.

I want more power but I don't want to over do it if that makes sense I don't know alot if anything about rotary engines but I'm going to attempt to rebuild the motor myself just to learn about it and see what I can figure out I figure that would be the best way to learn . but as far as what i'm wanting to do with i'm wanting it to be an everyday driver but still have quite a bit of power .. i'm a newbie so this will be a learning experience ..

Look at emmissions laws in your area.

Then if you can, remove the emissions control system and install a Racing Beat High Perfomance exhaust system. This should net you ~20 more HP.

Here is the link to Racing Beat

Now since you are going to tear down the engin you need to decide wether or not you want to make NON BOLT ON modifications.

Also known as Porting. To this subject an expert will hopflully comment.

It is my understanding that as your Port size increases your streetability decreases.

There are other less invasive modifications that can be performed such as installing a larger carberator.

You can also look at turbo charging

There are so many directions to go.

My best advice is to sit back and hang out in the forum for a while and read, read, and read some more, before you make any decisions as to what you want to do.

good luck

BTW what model is your RX7?

Dragon847 01-08-04 03:18 PM

I'm not exactly sure what model it's an 84 that's all I know .. i've been reading in the forum to try to find out but I haven't been able to find out yet ..

You need to find out what engine you have, many directions you could take with a 12a vs a 13b. Does it have a carb on it now? If so you probably have a 12a. FI? Then a 13b. Streetability is going to be your issue on how much you want to do...

Dragon847 01-08-04 09:15 PM

oh it has a 12a engine I just not really sure what the differences are between like a GSL or GSL-SE or anything if anyone knows of some books that would great for a newbie like myself to read let me know .. I've just been searching on here and trying to learn everything .. thanks again for everyone's help ..
