Need Reference for Head Light Assembly

Hey guys, I am working on a little side project that I want to explore... but I was flipping through the FSM and I can't find a decent picture of all the components of the pop-up headlight assembly.

I'm mostly looking for the sheetmetal frame that houses the lamp and is the main structure of the headlamp and hopefully a shot of the headlamp assembly without the cover piece.

Hope you guys can help...

Oh, one last thing; how the hell do you get those screws off for the lamp covers? I stripped one screw on mine and like 8 at the junkyard trying to get them off! :wallbash

what you trying to do? or what project you working on

I am thinking of developing a replacement kit for our headlamps...

I've gotten really attached to this 'lazy eye, double HID retractable lamp"
I figure if a '66 Stingray can do it why not our FB?

I want to make a few prototypes when I have the time to play with compatibility and ease of installation and adjustment. But the FSM Diagrams are just too crappy for me to get an idea of how the assembly is made up.

nothing will help you understand the assembly better than having one in front of you. if its off a junker drill the screws out, or get a screw all or watever they are called for removing stripped screws

You use an impact driver to remove the screws when they get stripped.

I believe Black dragon has a illustrated example of the components.

Thanks guys, I completely forgot that BD has detailed pics in its catalogs. I will go hit them up today.

I am going to go out today and nab some easy outs, but its raining so I won't be taking apart my light today and probably any others soon. :(

if you could come up with the drawings, i have access to a machine shop. and could make them there. If i learn how to use the cnc, i have access to that as well

Okay, I hit up BlackDragon, there was only really one picture for the entire assembly, but its detailed enough for what I want...

The second problem I have come accross is finding Aftermarket HID Pods... I can find a shit load of bulbs and altezza lights for civics and crap...

Anyone know a supplier for just the actual lamp pods? The individual little pods they used for those flush kits and such?

^ +1 That is the same place I was thinking of, I always liked the 90mm modules. Good luck with the project. I thought of doing the same thing after I saw the headlights on steve84GS_TII's car. Keep us posted.

Well I figured since I already made a thread for this particular reason, why waste time making a new one when you can just bring this one back?

Yeah... anyways.

I need pictures of the headlight assembly and frame...

The FSM hasn't been any help and the only real diagram that is halfway useful is on BlackDragon Auto, but even then its not enough to work off of.
