What is hanging you up, a few details of your difficulty would help. There is a link in the archives to all of the online FSMs. It covers the steering box removal.

Have you loosened the clamp on the spline sleeve and disconnected the tierods? Check the steering section in the FSM, the removal proceedure is fairly simple. Even has pics for visual people like me.

FSM, Factory Service Manual, it will become the bible for your car. Just to break you in gently, there is a search function on the forum. nearly any question you could ever hope to ask, has been. Finding the correct answer is tedious somedays to say the least.

The first few threads on the forum are stickies, loaded with links and information for the new and not so new members. Just above that is a link to the archives that contain some of the better threads.

I spent 6 months reading on this forum and a few others before I even made my 1st post. Literally spent hours on end reading everything I could about rotarys.

Here is the link to the FSMs, download the edition you need, or all of them for that matter, some of this stuff doesn't stay up forever so having on your hard drive is a plus. I have all of them on both the house and shop comps.

Read through the stickies, in particular the FAQs and bone up on the 7s. I don't mind helping others, that's what we are here for, however it gets tiring holding someone's hand and leading them through the most basic steps, over and over, especially when they make not effort on thier part. Don't worry, you're not there yet.

If the FSM doesn't provide what you need, feel free to ask and detail the particular problem you are having.

if you are talking about the plastic column surround, there is a clip on each side that must be pressed in before it'll come apart. be careful and try not to break it. just have patience with it.
