Need Help ASAP front suspension Strut question...

So Right now in my garage im replacing my front struts... I have the old setup out of the car but I am at a stand still at what point does the Strut come out? There is one point with a large lip im wondering if it comes appart here or lower near the control arm? Thanks alot!

Top of the strut housing, inside the spring. You need a spring compressor for this job. Take off the large nut on the very top in the middle of the strut bearing.

No no you got me wrong.. The spring is already out... I am just taking the STRUT out of the car and wondering where it comes appart???

that top lip is a big Nut, I had to use a 3 ft pipe wrench to get the last set apart.

Maybe a pic will help.

yep..where the rod goes into the strut is a big threaded nut.

gonna take some grunt!(more just awkward trying to keep the strut from turning as you wrench that nut off)

It looks like you already have the strut out of the sleeve. Where is the rest of the assembly? You loosen and remove the center large nut, pull the bearing plate and spring off, loosen and remove the nut at the top of the tube, slide the strut cartridge out of the sleeve. Assemble in reverse

make sure to put some power steering fluid in the casing before you put the strut cartridge back in the spindle assembly. It helps with cooling the strut. It doesn't take much, but you'll want a little to over flow when you put the strut cartridge in the casing all the way.

Power steering fluid? Koni instructions say to use Anti-Freeze.......interesting.

whichever, you choose. I've got Koni's and I used power steering fluid.
