Need a few opinions from se owners..

Ok, ive tracked my coolant loss down to a hole in the top of my over-flow cap. I was going to seal it up but then I noticed that the hole looks like it was there from the beginning. Before I plug the hole is it on anyone elses se over-flow tank? I dont want to patch an emergency pressure let. lol
Also givin that the se's have veign airflow meters, wouldnt making a "ram-air" type intake system flool the Afs into thinking more air was going through than actually was and drive the car rich?

Are you sure you are not burning antifreeze. My overflow tank was pressurizing and blowing the lid off. Get someone to rev your car while you stand behind it. Too much white smoke and a sweet smell will let you know right away.

The hole in the rad cap is'nt a emergency blow off its supposed to release pressure @ about 12-14 lbs.
A ram air set up is mearly for fresh cool air in order to achive a true ram air the inlet would have to be huge and you would give up aero. IMO Good Luck

I don't mean to hijack this thread but my coolent over flow cap will not stay on either - when ever I pop the hood, it's off. I doesn't seem to fit that well to begin with - my question is does that cap need to stay on tight? I've never noticed coolent actually blowing out of the overflow - can that happen?

yes it can

yes it can, and does, through that hole lol ive never had it blow the lid off but im sure if I plug that hole its going to, I dont understand why my radiator is presurizing so much, the car doesnt run hot yet it still shoots water out of the overflow blow hole when I turn the car off, o well// and no its not burning coolant, theres no bubbles in the rad, no rements on the plugs and no white smoke, so its leaking, after I shut the car off a few seconds later I hear this whoosh and then coolant starts spraying out of the overflow tank....

Has your engine ever been overheated..?
Do a complete cooling system backflush and fill..use only distilled water and fresh anti-freeze. Replace the thermostat with a new OEM one..make sure the jiggle pin is up at 12o'clock and also get a new radiator cap.. then see if it still happens

good advice mel
