need carb help!!

hello everyone,
!. i have an 86 GS with the stock carb, and im having carb troubles. im getting fuel to the carb, but the fuel is not spraying out of the jets. i was wondering if anyone has run into this before, and if so, would rebuilding the carb be the best option?
2. if a rebuild is the best option, who would you guys recommend i get the kit from? or is it better that i have it sent to be rebuilt?
3.on a different note, i have a line on a good cheap 13b and was wondering if anyone has info on what extra parts and how much it will cost?

thanks for the help,

Well first off, you do not have an 86 GS, but I'm going to guess that's a typo. The first gen model line ended in 85. Without knowing anything else about the carb, my guess would be the fuel jets may be clogged. You can pull those and see if they are. If the carb is in rough shape, you might as well have it rebuilt. Check out www.sterlingmetalworks.com for tons of Nikki carb related info. Sign up on the forum there as well, we've got a good little group of people there now and the information available is getting pretty good. Sterling can rebuild your carb for you, or for a decent price build you a great performance carb.

hEY HAVE THE CARB REBUILT. IF YOU CAN DO IT YOURSELF AND HAVE THE SKILL DO IT. ITS A GOOD EXPERIENCE, BUY THE REBUILD KIT FROM ANY AUTO PART THEY USUALLY HAVE IT. uSE COMPRESS AIR AND A LOT CLEANER, USE A WHITE MAT FOR ALL THE PIECES. YOU SHOULD BE SET.

cool!

thanks guys i really appreciate the info. yes it was a typo and i did mean an 85. i will definitley check sterling out, and i will keep updates and questions coming. ive been working on cars for a few years and have pretty decent mechanical knowledge and skill, but i have never rebuilt a carb before and i hear that the nikki isn't the best on to start on. so i will probably have it rebuilt. once again thanks for the info.

Nikkis are not that bad. If you decide to DIY...
79-85 Carb manual will help.

If you have Sterling rebuild it you will not be sorry.
