Need bolt size/thread pitch, etc.
 

My wife was feeling a bit frustrated by the fact that she doesn't know anything about cars, and therefore cannot really assist me with the reassembly of my car. So she had a great idea, and while I was at work she "organized" my project for me. Bless her heart, what a great wife. :)

So anyway, I was wondering if anybody could tell me the bolt size and thread pitch and whatever other information I need in order to get new bolts. I have decided it would be a good time to replace the bolts that join the tranny to the engine, so if anyone has that info for me it would be a great help.

It's not a good idea to replace those bolts with aftermarket because the heads of aftermarket bolts are always 17mm in that size. You need 14mm for the lower left bolt that hides in front of the starter. You also need to match up all the lengths fairly accurately.

I fortunately had enough stock bolts to replace any aftermarket ones in my engines, and never regretted it. Quality is always better in stockers, colors are by far more attractive (those aftermarkets tend to be either red or green which looks funny) and the best part is they're all 14mm which is easier to deal with when you've got small amounts of room to work in.

But to answer your specific question, 10mm x 1.25. The starter bolts (long and short) are 10mm x 1.5

I'd send you a set of stockers if I had spares but I'm pretty much 1 to 1 these days (one bolt set to one engine/tranny combo). Maybe someone around here who's recently done a part out will have a set kicking around for you.

I found one or two of them (I think), but the rest have been "put away" somewhere, and of course she can't remember where she put them. lol. No doubt somewhere safe where they would never get lost.

I'll see if one of the bolts I found will fit by the starter, but I will have to find replacements for the rest of them... Thanks for the info Jeff.

Remember the starter is coarse thread. If it won't thread into the back of the engine, don't force it. Likewise the starter bolt hole.

I don't know if it helps but when i had to tear up all the bolts to my suspension, i ordered my replacements that i couldn't find locally from blackdragon.

Mazdatrix sells all the tranny/starter bolts.
