NASTY Exhaust Leak... block to header
 

when i installed the RB header/exhaust on my car, it was loud at the front of the car, sounded exactly like when it was running with open ports, only much quieter, but still louder than it should be.

anywho, at the muffler, you can barely hear the car, but the leak at the block is now annoying, even though it makes a sexy scream at higher revs, its something that i dont want anymore.

my question is this... the gasket was new, and the RB flange is real heavy gauge... i torqued it down evenly, a little at a time, and put as much on them as i could with a 3/8" ratchet... but no luck, still leaks.

could i have put the gasket on backwards? i thought i looked at it to make sure that wasnt an issue. Anyway, i'm open to suggestions, cause i wanna get rid of this leak.

The gasket could be backwards..although as much as I remember its the same both ways. RB's instructions are to tighten the lower bolts first, then the upper.

well when i get a chance... i'll take it off and re-install.

check and make sure the nuts didn't seize on the manifold studs... Happened to me!!!
