N00b to the rotary

Just purchased my first RX7 (FB) and I love it. I am hereby soliciting advice about how to approach making it a very happy car, so feel free to let loose and ramble in any response you have to offer. The only work done so far is a new set of tires. The shocks, struts, and springs seem to indicate a need for replacement. It would also be nice to upgrade to fuel injection, but I am unsure if this will require a completely different engine or if it would only require a different intake, wiring harness, and ECU.
Also, what are the prefered fluids for a rotary engine and tranny? After almost 2 decades, would a upgrade for the exhaust be needed? If so, any reccomendations?
Any adive would be greatly appreciated!!

At the bottom of the "first generation specific" page is a little box that is titled "search this forum". Think about how much money you have or want to spend and then decide on a topic like suspension, ignition, carb, fuel injection, brakes, etc...and type one of the subjects in...you'll get a variety of threads that cover what you want to know for the time being and how everyone either did it or proposed on how to do it "right". It's a little work, granted, but you can pick and choose what to use as opposed to getting spoon-fed some rotary dogma by the few that respond to your cry for help! Have fun, amigo...

What a warm resopnse....

I asumed too much to ask for a bit of advice from those who know the 1st gen best. I have perused the "search" and found no definitive answers to my questions other than debates on coil cutting and various other debtes on the other topics I asked for advice.
I was just hoping there would be someone who could give me a few pointers. Other than the Post Whore Flames I recently recieved, thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

Don't take it too personal. Some people here just have their panties in a bunch.

In any case welcome to the fourm! :)

The best way to get a straight answer around here is trying to ask the right questions and know the laws around the area you live. From there you can get pretty much anything done to the car that you want. (Tt always helps to ask single questions and try to stay away from the "open" questions, like "How can make my car faster?" it would be better if you asked. "What recommendations do you have for sound performance upgrade for my RX-7, that doesn't cost too much, and can be a weekend project."

Congrats and welcome to the forum! They're fun cars to work on and drive!

there are several options for shocks, springs and bushings. Searching for those subjects on the forum will give you a good idea. Everyone's got an opinion on this. *sigh* It all depends on what you're looking for. I just installed Eibach pro-kit springs, Tokiko blue shocks and Energy suspension poly-bushings. The car is very tight and I'm quite happy with the setup.... and my rex is happy too. :) For the best prices on this stuff go to www.shox.com

ah yes, the "which oil should I use topic". This comes up all the time and it's always hotly debated. Synthetic oil in the crank is not recommended but some guys swear by it. Personally I think it's a bad idea. I use Castrol GTX 20w50 and change it every 2k miles or so. Synthetic in the tranny and rear is highly recommended. I use Redline and I'm quite happy with it, others use Royal Purple and other brands.

It's not necessary unless it's loud or you want better performance. Racing Beat seems to be the main choice in either case. Installing a high flow exhaust system will help performance a lot from what I understand.
