N.O.S. Question

Im thinking of getting a NOS system for my 12a......Tank,solenoids,lines,and purge system for$300....However someone told me it wouldnt work cause its not a "wet" kit.....Why does it have to be wet...Whats the diffrence....Some body tell me what I need to do to make this work....I dont want to pass this deal up....

has to be wet because your car is carburated.

nitrous kits fromce more oxygen into the combustion chamber. therfore you have to add more gas as well.

on a fuel injected engine, the computer will compensate for the excess oxygen and squirt more gas in through the injectors.

on a carburated car, the carburator cannot be adjusted on the fly, so you have to admore gas through the nitrous system.

incidentally, if you do'nt add enough gas to go with the nitrous, you will blow up your motor.

As long as it comes with a plate and all the other stuff get it. The plate is just a square with a rod through it that goes inbetween your intake manfiold and your carb, incase you didn't know.

Im buying this kit from a chick that had it on a Toyota Solara...(extreme rice).....so I dont think it has a carb plate.....is that all I need to make that kit work?

Winnipeg85GSL 01-28-03 12:44 AM

I'm not sure.

timmya2 01-28-03 03:46 AM

so if it has a plate..

u can put it on your 12a?

Not necessarily... the plate has to match the shape and bolt pattern of the carb. Your standard nitrous plate won't fit on a 12A car unless you're running a Holley carb...

BTW, Kevin - I have the plate for a Holley at the house .....

Toyota Solara? That's fuel injected!

I'd steer off that path and aim for a carburated NOS kit.

SilverRocket 01-28-03 11:03 AM

I'd steer off that path altogether LOL.

I figured Id need another carb.....I know they probably dont make a kit for the Nikki.....BTW david bring that plate w/ you saturday if you're gonna be at the P.S....I might pick it up if I have the loot.... I dont Know anything about a path.....Just ask David...

you could always drill holes in your intake manifold and plumb the nitrous and fule jets in directly...

nnaaaawwwwwsssssss!!! :p: :p:

Also, a dry kit is only good up to about 75 HP before your injectors can't keep up...100 and up demands a dedicated fuel solenoid...
