well I knew if I put the word PIX in the title people will look.LOL! But also for any responses, help, and experience. I posted that I was in the market to but one being that a friend of a friend had one for sale cheap. This is what I bought for 200 bucks. A brand new outta the box AEM UEGO wideband. I bought it b/c I have a 12A motor SP w/ BP outers(tapas) racing beat intake, holley 600, racing beat all the way back, msd, dual alt puley, maallory FP,Earls fuel filter, and I plan to either put a 50 shot or 75 shot( Im thinking the 75 will do me justice for when I have to :bottom: ) Si I figured leem work out all the kinks as far as tuning and the motor before I move on w/ the bottle.( Plus theyre having a mazda meet/dyno day here in Orlando the 23rd.).But EVERYONE told me that they are a real necceasity when tuning an engine. Whether carbed. or FI.

Check it out, widebands are very different from narrow or "nerst cell" oxygen sensors. Dont get em twisted though! They output a voltage only BASED ON THE OXYGEN CONTENT BEING SAMPLED.It is INNACURATE in the region of stoichiometric operation or LEANER. The rich region of narrow bands is temp. dependant, meaning that its basically useless if an accuracy better than 1.5:1 IS DESIRED. They op-erate on a closed loop around stochiometry.I said this b/c I didnt know and Im sure SOMEONE out there doesn't know the difference either(sorry all you rotary gurus :pat: ) So where am I taking this?????

Well in my car its sweet spot is around 55-6 thou. rpm. and though I have much faith in my mech. I also have a lot of love and a very little money when it comes to buliding engines.(this one came to 18xx$) So for me tuning benefits and security for 200 bucks is better than a rebuild. And though Ive never known anyone thats put one on a carb'd. applicAtion I know its been done b-4 for a reaeson. Im not a carb. master nor holley master but I would like some POSITIVE input from anyone that has any to give to me or if ya wanna flame for whatever reason you can too(If its about my pic. quality it does suck!)..LOL. here go some pix and some more pix of my car if you guys havent seen it already. thanksfor looking .-Erik

what is your question? and is it a RB holley or just a holley you picked up?

RXn407 04-10-06 08:36 PM

its not the one that rb sells that they tune; its a holley on RB intake . Im just looking for feedback on the wideband and NOS options as well. I look in the jegs and summit and dont know exactly which one to order. Also in terms of tips for tuning a motor when applying nos, tuning using or not using the wideband. I heard retard the timing, changing spark plugs, also what do you think the best way to install would be? Manifold, plate sys.???like I said, any help would be appreciated.thanks-Erik

81gsl12a 04-10-06 09:23 PM

the fogger type of system is the best. but a plate system works fine. as for the wideband its the only way to drive...it lets you know so much bets way to tune...as for retarding the timing and changing to a colder plug this all depend on how big of a shot you use...you want to get a WET KIt for you nitrous not a dry kit.. runing a 50 shot or 75 i would go 1 ta 2 plugs colder...if you drive on these plugs/retarded timing all the time its going your car will not preform as well on the motor its a give take relationship...you give up HP on the motor to be safe when you are on the bottel...

or you can just drive around with the colder plugs in you car and switch them the night you are going to race and retard your timing at the same time....best thing to do is get some msd boxes that have a retard on them with 12v is put to them it will retard your timing upto 10deg than all you have to do is swap out plugs and flip a switch or..keep the colder plugs in the motor all the time and flips the switch when you want to spray

so how does your holley run right now?

RXn407 04-10-06 09:59 PM

Right now it runs "just right". thats tuning by ear by my mechanic Cano @ortiz speed shop. He knows his shit . The motor has all the brraap you want. But like I said I want to use the car as a weekend spanker. and the holley is holding up flawlessly but I wanted to dive down a little deeper w/ the nitrous and how people are running their set-ups and what results they are getting w/ it and ALSO, how they like it. I had a T2 until just recently and I liked it, when the turbo spooled up and hit it was a lot of fun, but the money for upgrading maintaining and all else was too much for me so I had to let it go. thats why I want to go w/ like a 75 shot to play it safe on the street side but also for when I make runs @the track. The car isnt a daily just a weekend street/track. thanks for the heads up 81GSL12A. How do you like it? How do you like the response, what other mods are currently ohlding you down along w/ the spray?-Erik
