My old school wheels (anyone have these?)
Ok I got these wheels about 6 months ago,I was lookin through a small mom/pops junk yard and saw these stacked to the side.I knew alot fo people used these in the 80s,So I asked about them.
I did not know who made them,just that the spanish people around here call them Pilones (spelling might be wrong) So I looked at them,and asked the yard people.They wanted 100. So I saw a crack on one of the wheels,where the center caps goes in.So he droped it down to $50. So I took them. I researched the wheels.They are American Racing Libre os also know as the 200 S.13X7 Well I had them check the lug pattern witht he tool,and he said they were either 4x110,or 4x114.3.I have seen these on old rwd Corolas,Datsuns and My friend had them on his RX2. Well I later tried them on my car,they were 4x114.3.So I had them redrilled and sleeved.I just started to take all the curb checking out.I started with 80 grit on a DA,then down to a 180.I need to find a few more steps of sand paper then 1000 and buff. But what you see is after I used 80/160/1000 and used mothers by hand. Im going to paint the centers of them (gold like Enkies from the 80s) till my job moves and we get a powdercoating machine. Sweet, I know there is at least one guy on the forum running those. I can't remember the name though.

that's me buddy ...I got a set in 13" in good condition, like you said they are american racing Libre wheels. Mine are actually 4 x 110! these wheels were very common back in the days for datsun 510s and rx7s. I got them painted in black and also polished the lips. Nice score dude...mine came from a junked rx7 which I bought as a spare when I bought my GSL. Cool thing is that I can mount some wider tires in them than stock, for solo and circuit racing these are great and light enough.
Now that I'm running a 4.44 rear I might consider selling them, problem is that I'm not in the US so shipping would be too expensive. |
Libra or libre rims. I had one in my capri and RX-3 back in the good ol days.

Those are THE classic wheels for 510s, my friend has a set of 'em with 4X110mm bolt pattern.

I had a set back in the day too! Got them from P.R they were 13x7 and had BF Goodrich 195/50 r13's. Nice wheel! Pilones........yea thats what they called'em (crazy latinos)

Dam im suprized a few of you know what they were.I got them because what they are,Oldschool wheels.
I just order another set of 215/50/13 from tirerack.The came in today,so I got to finish the wheels fast. I dont want to keep the centers the raw aluminum look,and im not going to polish them.I want to paint them,I was thinking gold,liek the 80s mesh from the 80s. Any advice? mperformance, Do you have pics of them on your car?What size tires you running? Do ANY of you know where I can get centercaps,I fuckin emailed American Racing,they gave me a part number.I order it from summit,and it was to big. The cap has to be 2.25 |
yea I saw center caps on ebay but they seem pricey!

looks sweet...I'm going to repaint mine once my engine is done still deciding on which color scheme. Here is a quick bad picture I took today, in badly need of paint. Right now I got some cheap 185/60/13s but I have ran 215/50/13 with no problem on them. I actually have another set of 15" wheels and for drag I have a rear set in 14 with bf drag radials.
