My observations on two simple mods
 

Hey all, Spring is here and I can now get some time to work on my car.
I've completed two relatively simple mods and wanted to share my results.
On Monday I removed my fusible link and replaced it with a 2Gen fuse block ( I did this to make future mods easier...fuel pump...e-fan...ect), right from start up I noticed a completely different tone from my car! The car started quicker, idled smoother, and pulled stronger throughout the rpm range.....kind of like the difference you feel right after you change your oil in a piston engine (I say this because I really don't noticed a difference when I change oil in my 7). Now, I thought my car started pretty easy, idled well, and pulled ok before, but now it just seem smoother (perhaps "better throttle response" is a better way to put it). How can this be?

This morning I switched over to 2GCDFIS as per Kim's FB and Metallic_Rock's write up's in the archive section. To my surprise I did not notice a significant addition in power (I did notice upon shifting into second, the "chirp" was a little longer/stronger than before)? From what I've read, most guys have said they could really feel a difference (I'm still running a stock exhaust and stock carb....that'll chance over the summer)....don't get me wrong, the cars started up fine, idled well, and was still pulling fine....just I didn't notice any significant change.

I'm glad I made these mods, so I'm not unhappy, just wanted share my experience and hear from anyone else on their results.

I suspect you probably fixed a faulty ground when switching in the 2G fuse
block. That would make your spark hotter and better. Its all about the spark
on a rotary. Stock is barely sufficient, any improvement helps it out.

I don't really see how either of those mods would noticeably improve performance. I couldn't tell any difference between using stock coils and 2nd gen coil. And getting a fuse block only seems to eliminate the need for now rare fusible links, but I don't think fusible links in good condition perform any worse than modern fuses.
