let me know what you all think, i picked it up over the weekend and she's just as described, only I noticed oil coming from one of the oil cooler lines. please help with advice and opinions...thanks

Nice car that you bought.... in my experience change the oil cooler lines ASAP. Mine blew and I lost all my oil in a matter of seconds. Also be careful the oil cooler cracks around the fittings. if it is cracked no prob cuz any radiator shop can weld it up for not much money.

Looks really nice! I like the comment about the "very rare accessory Mazda alloy wheels" though, lol. Im a little confused about the new U-Joint too as they were non replaceable on that year, you had to get the whole driveshaft or swap the driveshaft out from an older model and swap the pinion flange too... Unless they can be replaced by a shop or something? Maybe something needs to be pressed in/out? I just remember them being "non-replaceable". Oh, and fix the oil line. They tend to get nasty quick. :)

dam man, thats a nice clean car. Looks better than the one down the street. THis guy down the street is trying to sell his 85 gslse with 88k on it for $8,000 or trade for a harley. I think that guy will never sell his car.

under the bra, i actually found a couple of nicks that look like someone tried to fix. but not a problem at all. the car is real sweet..

Sweeeeeeeeeeeet! Looks like money well spent. I will say this about the drive shaft, the one that came on my 84 SE has had the front joint replaced. Looks like somebody forget to tell one of the previous owners they are not serviceable.

I meant to comment on the oil leaks on my first reply. In my experience, the first gens. share three common areas for oil leaks, the two o-rings under the oil filter pedestal, the omp and the third one eventhough I have not heard too many people talk about is the oil sending unit. Oh, and I will say it again, sweeeeeeeeeeet car. I just have a thing for stock FB's in that kind of condition.

Get some new oil lines from Mazdatrix. The steel braided ones are nice. Anyways, nice car. Please keep it stock!!

yeah i plan to keep it as much stock as possible except for 2 things. I want the complete racingbeat exhaust system and i want to take the black stripes off the sides and make it look a little like this:

everything else will be changing old parts for new but stock.

Awesome car man. Body and interior looks real clean. Watch out though with that carb. It is a little hard to find parts for but they are out there. I have a mikuni on mine. But you might want to think about turbo when you get the engine rebuilt (whenever that happens) b/c the mikuni's are really good for the setup.

Just this time last year i bought my 82 rx from a guy out in Miami. Thought that was funny.

Link does not work. Very nice car. I did not see black stripes on your car. Usually cars with red interiors have red stripes anyway.

Im sure he means the black moulding on the outside of the car. I think it was a fair price for a car in such great shape also.

Very nice car. They are not easy to find in such good condition. I also assumed he was referring to pinstriping, and would suggest leaving the rubber strips on. The black moulding is actually very functional in protecting against door dings and other damage. Last year I got sideswiped and did not suffer a single scratch. The other car was scratched and dented along the entire side but mine was saved by the moulding. Taking the rubber moulding off the sides also makes the car look odd in my opinion, since it is integral to the front and rear bumper covers.

That was the car that i sold...the new car doesn't have a carb..it's fuel injected. and the link works good guys don't know why you can't see it...try copy and pasting..thanks

very nice clean se, se motors are strong mine went 250ooo+ b4 i rebuilt it, and my mechanic saw nothing wrong with anything on the inside, I dont think you paid to much, clean outside, interiors, and engine.

I had bought a drive shaft for my 85 gs with replacable u joints, think I got it at mazdatrix actually

I would leave the molding on. I personally feel it looks better esp. if you want to keep it original looking.
