My new paint is in
 

Well i picked up my new paint for my car. It is a passion red metallic. Its slightly darker than the velocity red of the rx8. We are finishing up some work on the little metal piece below the rear bumper behind the gas tank. I cant get a rear wrap to cover it so we gotta fab something up before we can paint. Any ideas?

Hi big Jim, am new to the site and am starting to get around. I am in the process of trying to get my 7 ready for painting. The dilemma am running into is wether to paint the same color or not. I have an 83 LE that came only in one color (Chateau Silver) well my question is since you have your paint already I am sure you did your homework on it, I want to know if you can recommend someplace I can get my paint from. 83 LE = Keep original color

83 LE was a limited production model, just as the name implies. The color used on it was only used for the LE, as were those wheels. Therefore, I would say paint it back the original color. Any other model would be fine to paint the color of your choice.
I have located an 83 LE, and have been trying to purchase it. They are using it as a daily driver, and do not know have a clue what it really is. The worst part, they live on a dirt road.

Of course, it was seven shades of shit when I got it, so Blue wasn't the worst thing that could happen to it.

we got my paint from carquest. They can mix almost any color, except velocity red because its a 3 or 4 step process to make. Their paints can be made in like 3 different ways with prices ranging from 20 to 120 dollars a quary. My paint is 49 dollars a quart and requires you to clearcoat it afterwards unlike other types of paints they also sell with the clearcoat mixed in. I would say check your local carquest.

I have an 83 LE as well,and I re-painted it Copper mettalic.I say paint it what ever you want.These LE's are not all that "limited".Heck I have even seen some non-LE car's with the LE wheels so it fools you.I even went so far as to remove everything in the engine bay,and paint that to match the color of the car so you can't even tell it was silver before.Good luck with the painting,it is very tough to get it perfect.

Usually the original color is best, because it makes trim painting easier and improves resale price. And in the case of an LE that goes double. Also, that LE really looks good in the original color.
