Just wanted to say howdy, I'm new to the first gen section. Just got the car weekend before last, and I love it!! The car was a one owner, it was owned by an old lady who bought it new. It has all the service records, window sticker, owners manual, even the loan check from the bank. It had a new motor put in it in 1994, and only has 35K on the motor. I bought it from the gen1 classifieds on the forum, he knew her for years and got it from her when she got too old for it, he said she was only putting around 500 miles a year on it towards the end.

Mechanically it is great, completely 100% stock, working AC, very well serviced, she spent alot at the dealership over the years from the paperwork. The interior needs work, seats need recovering, dash is shot, and the ashtray has a crack on the lid, and the usual loose dome light cover, also has a replacement passenger fender that the paint is faded. Everything works except the #1 setting for the blower motor, I guess it needs a series resistor.

This car has really good power compared to my 85 I had, rear end is silent, and the tranny is very smooth. It will hold an idle very quickly when cold without the choke, and just purrs. I love the backfires from the thermal reactor! I love loading er up with fuel and letting off, its a real hoot, I've love blasting those dogs that chase after my car :) It wont do it much when shes good and warmed up when your driving normal , but I know how to if needed.

Sorry to go on and on but I really love this car, my only plans right now is an interior refreshening, I ordered the dome light cover, ashtray, and dashpad cover.
I really like the feel of the first gen section, I'm hoping to find some love over here, I had my 2nd gen for seven years now, and I love these cars!

I will post some other pics tommorrow, the ones I posted are from the site when I bought the car,

Thanks for listening

Luke

Sweet car man! thats a great find you got!

Excellant find, welcome to the 1st gen forum and the Darkside. I started out with a 2nd gen, still have it as a DD, but the 1st gens and older are where the true rotary fun is at. You will find we ar a bit different here than the2nd gen forum, more laid back and helpful, imho.

In my sig line is a link to the online FSMs, carb amanuals, etc. Download whatever you need.

Yeah, thats one of the first things I noticed is how helpful everyone is, seems to be alot less "holier than thou" attitude, I actually regret doing so much to my 2nd gen since I'm getting so much enjoyment out of a stock 1300 dollar car. I will try to be as helpful as possible, did I mention I love the backfires? :naughty:

Looks great. Looks really solid! Texas cars tend to hold up better than those here in the Midwest...

Thanks everyone, I just wanted to post a few more pics, a couple from the rest stop on the way home, and a couple with me and my 85 I sold to a friend when we went out in them for the first time.

many many compliments on both SA's .. i gotta say though ... that last one looks really really clean ..

82transam 02-03-07 07:21 AM

Damn 1300 for that? Good deal, that thing looks clean as hell, I'm surprised she didn't ask more, clean SA's are going for a bundle on ebay nowadays. Oh yes, welcome to our little world, as the others have said, we're a helpful bunch here, you'll enjoy your stay ;)

Thanks ya'll, I am just loving this car, my wife really likes it too, she has soft spot for the first gens so thats works out pretty well. I'm just going to try to keep the car in good shape, and redo the interior little by little when I can afford it. These truly are some good looking, fun cars.
