My freshly painted GSL-SE

I am so proud. It needs a decent front grill. Anyone here with a spare?

rxseven 11-15-01 10:30 PM

2nd attempt......

Ok, the pic above sucked. This one is a lot better.

gamble302 11-15-01 10:40 PM

speckamp 11-15-01 10:54 PM

Yippee-ki-yo-ti-yay....

What a fantastic little pony! You've got every right to be proud. Agree with speckamp, all my cars need paint-jobs, and a good job is soooo damn expensive. Wonder what it would be like to just do the Karate Kid? Wax on, wax off....

You be good to yourself,
Denny, from the 'ol corncrib....:D

You need to reply to those that post a question regarding your pain job cost. If anything out pure courtesy for others....

Sorry, could not reply earlier. I have a friend at work who does custom paint jobs and he did me a favor and did this for 800 bucks. I had lots of body work done also. total cost was 1100 which inluded the clearcoat. Yes, I got lucky with this one.
Actually, the pic was taken right after it came out of his garage. Since then, i have polished the wheels and put a good coat of wax on it. Looks even better.

I am looking to get a 2nd gen to fix up next, around jan-feb.
Does anyone here has one to get rid off??

rxtasy 11-17-01 01:33 PM

did you remove the side moldings to paint or did he paint around them?

nimrodTT 11-17-01 07:40 PM

Is that the stock sunrise red paint?

Barwick 11-17-01 08:11 PM

just make yourself a front grille, it'll look unique, and if you do it right, it'll still look ok and keep the roadkill from smacking your radiator.

he did a good masking job on it but it still needed some touch-up in that area. I thought of removing the molding but I just thought it would be too much to ask of him. You may have paint overspray on the top edge of the molding but you can actually shave it off with a blade and make it look good.

No but it is fairly close. It's candy red urathane made by nason. I was gonna get the sunrise red but O'reilly's had a super deal on this one.

OK, you got me interested. Anyone done this? Any links to pics? I would be glad to hear more on someone having made his own grill.

nimrodTT 11-18-01 12:07 AM

O'reilly's sells paint that doesn't come in a spray can? ...I never knew.

Around here they do and they actually train the managers in automotive finishes, paint process etc. The guy I dealt with, told us exactly what we needed and the correct way to go about it for the kind of paint I bought. The results were very good:)
