Good stuff :D

Fun little vid.
Now... if you only could have done all that with a rotary, we'd be set! BTW... Project: Trailer Park has the same chalkboard paint. It rules! |
wat u mean? his rx7 didnt have a rotary in it?
|
check out his name "85 GSL 302", As in 302 cubic inch V8, and the name of the video "RXv8.avi"

Good job PRINCESS.
Nice work on the vid guys. Looks like a pretty fun car. Did you get any of those suspension goodies and whatnot from that other car installed? Love the paint job too, I'll be getting there someday soon. |
I'm pretty sure all of that video is the car with the IT suspension on it. I added the front end, brake ducts, and roll bar inbetween some of the shots, so some times you see it with that stuff, sometimes you don't. I need to get a day off and finish the paint job on the car. Sadly enough, after all the money I've spent, I think the $60 paint is one of the most fun things :)
As for the motor, I would think the sound clips of it passing would have been a clue, or maybe the fact that the intro title says "84 RX-7 V8", but I can't be too harsh, I've done things like that too. As for the clips, that was my first race on the new setup. I was fighting the steering all day, and only managed one clean run for 8th overall. I need to play with tire pressure and maybe change the alignment a little. Once I get the steering effort down, it should be a very fast car around the autoX. Most of the runs in the video though are my drift runs. I entered in two groups, got some times down, then had some fun on my street tires. |
On a side note, how much did the v8 conversion cost you? I have a couple of ford v8s just laying around, and my friend has a tranny.

That is the sweetest sounding rotary I have ever heard ;)

The actual swpa can be done for cheap. Mine was a little pricy because I rebuilt and bought new a lot of parts. I'd say if you bought all the swap stuff, had a driveshaft made, and didn't rebuild anything you could have it done for about $1000 and you'd end up with probably a mid-low 14 second car. I only put about $2000 into mine, but I had some parts sitting around. Bought new, it would probably cost about $8000 to duplicate the car as it sits with suspension, motor work, etc. I think I have a total of about $3500 in the whole car, maybe less. I haven't totaled it in a while.

wow sweet vid what sofware do you use.
|
ITS AVI DAMMIT! how do i get that to work???
|
To lessen the steering effort, use less caster. Still waiting for the vid to load (its slower than this forum LOL). :D

I finally got the vid. Way cool. :bigthumb: Now quit drifting and get some good lap times. :) The RATM song added in was neat!

Sweet video. Talk about not putting all that power to good use (Don't send this to the EPA)! It sounds pretty badass, even though it struck me as odd when I first heard it. Little car now have big v-8 rumble. Nice car though.

Right now I'm running about 5.5 degrees of caster. I might bring that down a bit. I don't supose anyone has a good alignment for a spec 7 or similar race car sitting around?
The video is coded with Divx, so you'll need to get a codec for it to work. As for my web site, it's on the video. There's a link to my RX-7 page, that's most of the info I have. Grannysspeedshop.com has some good stuff, and torquecentral.com has the V8 RX7 message boards. I can also answer any questions you may have. I took my timed laps at speed, but only managed to get one clean pass in, a 43.27 good for 8th overall. I think with some decent race tires and some more control I can start placing in the top 3 consistantly. I only started my drift runs after my timed runs were logged in. In our club, you can double enter, but your first set of laps count for times and points. |
whats your site name ????
|
haha
"Cone Killah!" Only 19? I woulda hit like 30..... even more if I was driving my Tojo pickup.... :p: |
www.clemson.edu/~summerr is the web site. That will take you to the main page, then just click on the RX7 links to get to the RX7 page.
