(Continued)
Here is how the dash goes behind the steering column. I went for easy to do on this one so I kept it simple, works for a race type dash.
https://www.rx7club.com/forum/attach...postid=1743472 Here is a close up of one of the mounting nuts. I just used the three holes that were already there for the previous dash for installation. I do think i'll paint the nuts well I'm painting the dash. ;) https://www.rx7club.com/forum/attach...postid=1743448 The final dimension for the face is about 5 3/4". Enough room for guages and switches. THe width is 51 3/4" but I had cut a wee bit off each end for easier installation. https://www.rx7club.com/forum/attach...postid=1743492 Well I made two dashes so I have an extra sitting outside if anyone needs another? I can also make more as well. I can make them in aluminum also, still gotta find out how much that's gonna cost. Well I suppose thats all.... |
I agree with manntis ,, good work. as always the best idea is to keep it simple. won't you need to support it in the center ( when it's filled ) ? It's hard to see a guage if it's moving around. you may want to shock mount the 'glass with some rubber washers to keep it from cracking also .
|
The dash is pretty solid. Maybe with the added weight of guages it might flex some, if so I figured I'd just add a center support, no biggie :D
ANd I did use rubber washers to keep it from cracking/scratching/vibrating ;) |
SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET
|
damn. looks nice. you going to paint it black? and they make liquid filled guages if you think it will vibrate too much.
looks good. once i get my car back and running i will have to swing by your pad and check every thing out :) |
I was thinking about painting it yellow to match the rest of the car... getting all the electrical inside the damn thing is what's really on my mind now... :( I really don't think it's gonna vibrate, it's pretty damn solid ;)
ANd my car should be running fairly soon... Shocks/struts are on the way. Just gotta get the brakes done then tires and I should be good to go! I'm about to die without being able to drive my 7! You really gonna do a TII swap? I'm considering switching in this 13b I've got sitting here with the S5 rotors at some point. ;) |
i still want one of those dashes at some point... keep in touch.
|
yea TII swap is comming soon :) i have an S5 motor just waiting to be put in. im just waiting on my wiring harness and computer.
im going to take pics step by step on the process and post it on here kinda like a "How to" i just need to stop being lazy and get this crap going. |
looks cool... you gonna put holes for the gauges...
|
Nice work man!
