Fingers crossed I have done it right.

Looks good! Very clean! I like it a lot, great job! Give us some details on the installation and components please!

~T.J.

PS - One too many sets of [IMG] tags for posting the pics though ;)

nimrodTT 07-19-05 03:27 AM

That's an interesting fuel rail.

FB II 07-19-05 03:43 AM

lol, alot of people using these setups just run the fuel hose straight to the injectors :p: it works. this looks very veeery nice. more details please!

RotorMotorDriver 07-19-05 03:49 AM

Ok, checked back to see the replies, and HOLY CRAP those pics are big and nice! If you click the little ones, you look at a bigger version, but I found out by accident if you click the bigger one when the window opens, you get an even BIGGER one! Click again and its small. Thats cool, haha. Anyway, just though I would share :)

Yes you need to get us a write up on this job ASAP! My stock Carb is giving me hell all the time, wan't idle at all. I have thought of Fuel Injection just wasn't sure about how to do it. If you cen write us up a parts list and a how-to that would be very appreciative!

BTW Love the car under the hood! :bigthumb:

How is it vs the stock setup? More responsive? Better power? Just simply love it! Your radiator looks like an intercooler it is so big...lol

You Aussies sure know how to hook your cars up! :D

z-beater 07-19-05 10:31 AM

ohhhh...me like!

dantheman 07-19-05 10:58 AM

Looks good! What are you using to control it?

I love the fuel line.

RUBY7 07-19-05 06:17 PM

Thanks, I couldn't be happier with it.

Setup is Fresh built 12A Extend Port, Ultra light flywheel, Fuel Injection by Injection Perfection, 4 x Bosh Coils, Crank Angle Sensor, Davis & Craig Thermo Fan, BTR Aluminium Radiator, all contolled by Microtec LT10s and delivers 166 HP to the wheels.

The Installation was carried out over 2 weeks so that the car was never off the road.

Here is a before pick.

How much for parts? This is something I'm very interested in.

Rotarx7 07-19-05 08:36 PM

thats hot!! what kinda radiator you got there??

autopaul 07-19-05 08:37 PM

im really interested in what you paid for the tb and injectors, & tps,. as i am also building a setup like this, thanks, looks awsome by the way

RUBY7 07-19-05 09:29 PM

Lovintha7 & Autopaul I can only really help out with a link to the current Aust. price list. Sorry, the majority of this setup was given to me for a christmas gift. (Lucky girl)
Do it you wont regret it

http://www.injectionperfection.com/h...ce_list_3.html

Rotarx7, The radiator is a custom job made for me by BTR a fabrication shop in South Australia.

Hyper4mance2k 07-20-05 05:00 AM

lovin the CAS... lol doin it froggie style...

RUBY7 07-20-05 06:04 PM

Hyper4mance2k, Yeah a little bit of artistic license there. Call it whimsy.

Sue

diabolical1 07-20-05 09:25 PM

well, i love it. you do your thing, girl! :D

i'm very impressed with the setup. 166 HP to the wheels is great. how tractable is it with that flywheel and the extend-port? just curious ... :D

kudos to you and i hope you enjoy many, MANY miles to come.

mmh weber fuel injection with a microtech i love it. lol i got a history with frogs and my car man. me and one of my spanish friends where at a car was. and a spanish guy walked up and said "sapitoes" or something and he barely new english. finally got the word out frog. and me and my friend realized 1st gens look just like frogs lol. second gens have a hint of it in them aswell. but nice setup anyways. *worships weber injection and microtech both*

RUBY7 07-21-05 12:35 AM

diabolilcal1,

Hi, by tractable I'm guessing you are asking about the drivability of the car. If so, I work in real estate and this is my work car, we travel about 80k's a day, so the car just has to have manners. There were some concerns about the fly wheel in the begining, but I would not trade this free revving setup for nix.

The drivability and responsiveness is outstanding. The induction sound, although it has taken some getting used to is awesome. Just love it. Scares the little old ladies.

This was no cheap endevour, but for my purposes it was the only way.

Regards Sue

niiiicceee! that's a very clean setup you got ruby7 :bigthumb:

RX7_ARG 07-21-05 10:54 AM

very clean engine bay, nice radiator, congrats!

DP13B 07-22-05 01:13 AM

Thanks for the positive feedback, I'm the person resonsible for the fitment of the EFI in Sue's RX-7.

The list of parts required for the conversion is as follows:

4 x 500cc/min injectors modified to accept fuel hose.
Injection Perfection throttle body, fuel rail, cable holder and TPS.
K&N air filter assembly to suit an IDA weber carb.
Malpassi fuel pressure regulator (EFI)
Microtech LT10s with x4 ignitors, 4 x Bosch coils
'86 -'91 CAS
Weber manifold
Pre pump, EFI pump and surge tank

The performance improvement over the Nikki carb is impressive. The injection outperforms in all areas; throttle response, warmup, driveability, but most noticeably - torque. You could drive this car all day in a gear higher and get away with it! Improved volumetric efficiency has also increased peak HP from 130 to around 161.

The cost of the conversion has been high, but I am yet to drive an RX-7 that offers more enjoyment. It's been a few months and Sue hasn't stopped smiling!!

Regards
Don

FB II 07-22-05 01:43 AM

you were making 130 rwhp using the stock nikki carb?

RUBY7 07-22-05 02:13 AM

Thanks Don, that should keep them busy and out of trouble for a while. (and Don Iam claiming that extra 5HP) :)

FB II, Yeah, the nikki did have mechanical secondaries, dont really know if that actually adds HP. It is a well built motor, think that might just have something to do with it. (Oh, Don is also the one responsible for building the motor.)
