Ok, so I have some MSD boxes here. I got an 6AL for leading and 2 6A's for trailing.

Here is a quick MSPaint of them, since I do not have a camera handy.

Now, the 6A box:
Red and black thick wires go to battery's positive and negative, respectively.
Orange and black bundle go to Coil's positive and negative, respectively
Red and White bundle go to the ignition source and ignition amplifier?

The red and white bundle in another post says to ditch the white and run the red to the acc switch? Which one?

The big green and white plug is for the magnetic pickup in the dizzy, but says to not run that and the white wire (from above) at the same time. Which do I use? I assume to run the red and white bundle and leave this alone.

The Tach output (male plug), how do I plug that so I can run the tach? Or should I use this only on the 6AL box?

Now the 6AL box:
The 6AL wires up the same way as the 6A, but how do I get it to fire 2 coils? I have 2 Blaster 2 coils and a 2nd gen leading coil. I take it I will be using the 2nd gen coil as my leading coil, triggered by the 6AL, and the trailing would have their own box and coil per plug, correct?


Now, the post is almost over, I swear! Last question. On one of the 6A boxes, it had what looked to be a stock RX7 harness on it, with 6 wires:

The purple and green plug will plug into the Magnetic pickup (the green and white wire female plug) on either 6A or 6AL box.

Also, the white wire on the female end, has a female spade connector on it. This is for...?


When I got these boxes, I was told they came off a race car, and that is all.

I am starting to think about just ditching the trailing ignition all together. I already made some spark plug inserts for when I take out the trailing plugs.

First thing to do is go to MSD's website and download instructions.

White wire is used after the ignitors. Green/purple is used for magnetic triggering (instead of the ignitor). Only one method or the other is used to trigger the box. Never hooked up three, so I can't help you there.

With a setup like that Stu, the rev limiter won't work. Trailing would just go on forever.

That's why I was thinking of removing the trailing all together.

Ok, so I sealed the boxes and they are ready to install.

Thick red and black go to the positive and negative of the battery.

The orange will go to the + side of the 2nd gen coil, and the black to the - side of the 2ng gen coil. I can do this to trigger the leading plugs, correct? I do not see why not, since they will be doing the same thing they are doing now.

The white trigger wire, where can I plug this at? I know it is for the ignitor, but where do I splice?

The other red wire should connect to a switched 12v. I can run this to the trailing coil power source?

Lol, that is usually how it goes. I am thinking of using the white wire (signal) from the negative plug on the coil. Not the negative on the coil itself.


Actually, that makes a lot more sense. I guess I could use the - as a signal, and run a male end on the white wire and plug it up. HMMMMMMMM

Red wire to the 12v power that supplied the stock coils.
White wire to the negative cable that supplied the stock coils with the signal.


Correct? If this is good to go, I will be mounting them tomorrow.

Car has no power. Blew something somewhere when I wired it up the way the MSD person said it would run. See the other thread.
