Wheel adapters

Ive had my eye on a set of SSR longchamps however they're 4x114.3 and my 82' GSL is 4x110 (as I'm sure most of you know.) Is it a bad idea to use wheel adapters to fit the SSRs or am I wasting my time? I have Rota RBs on the car that are 110 right now but I'd really like to put the SSRs on the car.

I have them on the front of my race car to adapt from 4x114.3 to 4x100. I had them made by a local machinist out of 6061 billet (Santa Fe Garage Automotive Services in Independence, MO). They are 25mm thick and are hub centric on the wheel and the hub. I also used ARP studs. On the rear I have the axles redrilled to the 4x100 pattern. The trick is finding a set of wheels that can handle the 25mm spacer. To run 15x8s on my car I needed 30-35mm offset wheels. With the adapter this I net a 0-10MM offset wheel on the front and 30-35mm wheel on the back depending on the spacers I am running. This way the wheels can be rotated front to back.

It is was spendy do to this. So I would recommend going to the 4x100 pattern because there are way more wheel choices that are lighter and cheaper than anything available with the 4x114.3 pattern.

Many people here run adapter/spacer setups since the 4x110 pattern is almost impossible to find a new wheel for anymore. With yours being a GSL you have lug studs instead of lug nuts that thread onto studs pressed into the rear axles and front hubs (like a GSL-SE). So you'd need to also purchase high quality lug studs that can clear the spacer underneath the wheels.

So you're saying I need new lug studs along with an adapter? I was looking for 110>114.3 adapters but they were all from ebay and I don't want to risk it. Does anyone here know of a good place to get those things?

Since you have a 1982 model, wheel adapters would be the easiest. The other option would be to change out your shock towers for 1984/1985 big spindle and use GSL-SE brakes/rotors. For the rear, you can always have the axles redrilled.

Try adaptitusa.com. I have been using them for endurance racing and they have worked well. About $200 for all 4.
