motor rebuild

i have a problem, i need to rbld my motor and i dont know how. i assume i need the 600+ dollar rbld kit from racing beat and a lot of knowledge. i wonder if i can get one of those movies and maybe complete the task but i think ill get a very marginal product. i was wondering if there was a better way? if i did have to go this route, is the video complete enough to walk me through a complete rbld. Also, is there any special tools needed?????

You'll need a few specialist tools, not sure WHAT though, but you always need some random tool that you've never even heard of before when taking apart an engine!!

Buy the video to get a good idea on what to do - and get advice from people on here on techniques and other such stuff. I'm about to rebuild mine, and I'm just going to wing-it, and get a basic job done

If your mechanically inclined you should be ok. I did mine with minimal tooling. The engine stand adapter was rigged with many bolts from Home Depot etc. The hardest nut to remove is the flywheel nut but if you have an impact wrench it will make life easy. The Haynes manual helped me through alot. I got my parts from Mazdatrix (they were down the road at the time). A lot of patience and a lot of cleaning (internals will be nasty!). It was fun and well worth the time I spent..
