More Exhaust

So i need to get some new exhaust cookin here in the future and i've been thinkin about what i should do. I have a 6-port which brings about some problems. What i have been think about doing is going with an RB header with the collector and one presilencer with the 6-port. I have someone who can weld, so i plan on just buying some SS pipe from a steel yard which i can get bent if needed. Get a magnaflow muffler and zip it all together. I can get the few flanges and gaskets from RB because of the quality.

Maybe i should just go with the mild steel, would it really be worth it? Welding SS steel to mild steel?

I like the looks of the oval muffler with one or two tips? I personally like 14814 .

Also how much flow difference is there really from the basic RB to the streetport RB exhaust, keep in mind my engine is Not steetported.

Sorry for all the questions but im trying to get this done without spending the 800$ that RB wants.

Anyone heard or know the quality of the magnaflow magnapack? I've heard some people saying the presilencers are sheit, maybe an alternative?

Also im sure this has been asked also, but compared to a stock, non-leaking exhaust, how much louder should i expect with on presilencer and say the 14814 muffler that i picked out?

Too many options  :crzyeye:

If you go with mild steel make sure it has some kind of protective coating such as galvanize or aluminize otherwise it'll look like crap, due to rust, before you know it. Also use thick wall tubing (.065 or greater) otherwise it may sound tinny.
I've used a magnaflow with 2 of my own presilencers like RB streetport system and a RB header. The noise level was very acceptable maybe a little louder than the original RB system. I think the RB muffler, which has a larger internal volume, sounded better than the Magnaflow though. I prefer the dual tips because it looks more like standard less like rice.
I think a header with one presilencer and a Magnaflow will sound many times louder than standard.
You can always find exhausts for sale here:

My advice:
Remove the standard exhaust and unleash that beautiful rotary music.

I would say the 14816 muffler would look better. As for use of the magnapacks, I don't know. I plan to experiment with them when my cherry bomb presilencer goes out. I'm basically doing the same thing as you, I just used 3" pipe between my cherry bomb presilencer and a part no. 14258 universal magnaflow muffler. I then welded on some nice 3" diameter ovaled tips, kind of like the one I suggested for you. i did it this way only because I didn't want to pay $70 more just to get one with tips when I can go out and buy some cheap stainless tips that look good and weld them on. They were $14 each at Canadian tire. The muffler was $220 and the cherry bomb was $30. The pipe was $70 (I think it has a wall thickness of 0.070").
