More Electrical Problems...*sigh*
well, earlier today i was workin on the rx7..as usual...and well...the fuel pump wasnt looking, so i look. and i had a blown fuse, i took the fuse from the "power windoew" (which i dont have) and put it in place of the blown fuse. after i did that...the radio, dome lights, and clock all stopped working. so i found a 20 amp fuse, and put it in place of the "power window" fuse. still, nothing...so i go to autozone, and bought new fuses...put them in place of all the old fuses, and still nothing...my clock will work...but it only works after a lil while of driving around...and when i see the clock turn on i try to switch on the dome lights, and it just shuts back off...i have come to the cunclusion of eaither:
1. Drained Battery. 2. Bad Alternator... what do you guys think ? |
If your car is running I don't think it is the alternator. And if your rex is cranking fine i doubt it is the battery. If it is kinda slugish when cranking or sounds like it is going to quit cranking it might be the battery. Other than that I don't really know...sorry.

car runs fine...starts good...and its always been sluggish :P but everything was working fine b4 the fuel pump fuse went out ?

*bump*

Bump!

Let think this thru.
Ok, fuses don't blow for no reason. Anytime you are doing any work you should disconnect the positive battery cable from the battery. EVERYTIME. Why did the fuel pump fuse blow? Did you find a nicked wire going to ground or replace the fuel pump? Ground wires can be the culprit of bad electrical as well as moisture in the car..... John |
is it positive terminal or negative terminal you disconnect i thought it was negative.
|
most electricals have there own ground anyways... i always disconect the positive
|
okay...I had a problem just like this a while back...look at the fusible links box, on the back(opposite side of where the links are). I had a bolt BARELY threading into a wire, no burn marks or nothing. When I hit a bump, it rubbed, shorted, and blew my 20 engine fuse everytime(which would affect the pump).
