Moog Inner Tie rod ends will not seat in Center link
 

Rebuilding suspension on our 79 project car.

Have moog pitman, moog inner and outer tie rod ends, tie rod link, new ball joints, struts sprigs etc etc

So everything is connected, but castle nut on the inner tie rod to center link will not seat all of the way. The hole in the stud for the cotter pin is just clearing the center link.
We have tried slowly tightening on the castle nut to pull it in but with little luck and feels like 80ft lb of torque which is way too much so we stopped.
Went ahead and disconnected and loosened most everything else (sway bar endlink, torsion bar, etc)

Any advice or insight is appreciated

Put a little grease on it and make sure its smooth. May have a nick from removal that keeps it
from seating all the way. Also loosening the adjusters will help get the angle correct.

I just did all of this recently and had no problem seating it. I was able to finger tighten it down
far enough then used a wrench and then used the torque wrench to get the torque correct.

Yup, i would make sure i dont have any burrs on the centerlink, and inspect the moog part to make sure nothing is damaged or warped. Ive always had good luck with moog. Mine always went in flawlessly, but as a general rule i let the castle nut do the work for me.
