Modifying the 12a or swaping in the 13b

Depending on which one i end up finding and buying..
I know i should of searched, i looked around on the forum
and on cardomain.

time to start a new thread..

What kind of price range should i be looking into when i want to modify my
1st gen?

I'm looking for around 150-200hp

the standard 12a with 105 hp
isn't gonna cut it for me..
and
the gsl-se 13b making 135 hp is Okay but not really enough for me, you need enough power to lose traction on the wheels if you wanna drift right?

so what kind of Hp do you guys make and what should i do AS CHEAPLY AS POSSIBLE
to get that kind of hp range.

Oh and as well as the suspension, the suspension stock is 'ok' though right?
and it comes with a LSD.

Stock suspension would not be enough if you want to drift, you need to get the panhard bars for your rear end and stiff coilover on your car. I have no problem getting sideways in my car with a stockport 12A with Sterling carb, but you would need more power if you really want to drift.

Right so what should i do, and at what price.

if your looking for performance i would go with a 13b, the only thing about this is if you get it from a second gen you will have to but the 84-85 gls-se front cover.

i swapped a 13b into my GS with a holley 600, probably the most fun i had in a FB. the 12a seems more rev happy, but the 13b's extra power and torque really make it worth the swap. keeping EFI can be a mega pain though, specially with second gen 13bs.

I'd go with a grannys speed shops 302 swap. It would make a nice drifter... ;)

But keeping true to the rotary name an 89-92 13b made 160 hp. With a street port and properly tuned ECM or Carb, header, and decent exhaust you could make close to your 200 HP goal.

Although the 280 ft lb's of torque a stock 302 produces sounds like more fun to me!

^+1

The V8 torque would also be great for drifting.
Cheap, easy.

Megaton 06-12-07 11:23 PM

Cheap eh?

How cheap :p

I'm not sure weither i should go for the FB and modify it, or just go for the FC
what do you guys think?

Paradox 06-12-07 11:35 PM

thats up to you, a FB in good shape is a rare item these days and to be honest i think they are more fun to drive than a FC.
