Modern double din stereo in '85 Fb

Well, I waited nearly 20 years to get a real sound system in my car and when my 80s vintage Aiwa unit died recently I was forced to act. I didn't want anything with a garish graphic display that would clash with the clean esthetics of the car and I also wanted a double din unit to try and fully occupy the space in the surround.

I ended up with this Clarion unit (which is really fitting since Clarion had made the OEM unit) which also has a cleverly concealed cassette deck for us real old schoolers (I've had this car new since my university days). It also fits without much modification into the Mazda stereo bracket at the right angle and flush with the surround. I had to run completely new speaker lines, new Alpine speakers throughout and an amp under the passenger seat to get that beautiful clean distortion free sound. The original Mazda wiring and tiny amps were simply horrible.

Looks good. I love my still functioning factory stereo though. Can't beat the awesome graphic equalizer! I'll eventually get a double din touch screen, when this one goes out.

Looks really good! I've been looking for something like this. Do you mind sharing the model number (I can't quite make it out from the picture) and where you picked it up?

Thanks

Here's another from Clarion that I like (and the price is right)

This doesn't have the nice silver/gray accents or the tape deck but it is ipod ready!

Think you can get to the LEDs on that thing and replace them with red ones to match the dash?

Jim- I noticed you have a boost gauge in place of your quartz clock. I am interested in putting an aftermarket temp gauge in this location. What size gauge did you buy, and what mounting hardware was required to put it where you have it? Did you have to break any plastic to remove the clock?

Sorry if this is off topic. I'm interested in double din headunits too but I thought I'd ask about the gauge.
